S.B.S. 2003 Guyana 17-Year

This SBS bottling is a rum from Guyana, which was produced in 2003 in the Demerara Distillery in pot style and was allowed to be stored tropically in American oak for 17 years. The single cask was bottled at cask strength of 59.7% alcohol. There are 258 bottles.

The nose reveals a beautiful garden of herbs with a good dose of caramel and dried fruits. I find some nut, very light anise and leather. A nice balanced nose. The rum is dry on the palate, with herbs, dried fruits, caramel but also peppery with strong spice, vanilla and some nuts. The finish is dry with bitterness and spice. A caramel sweetness remains.

A good solid rum that is easy to drink if you like it dry. The almost 60% go down very smoothly and the alcohol is very well integrated. Unfortunately, the rum is also a bit one-dimensional.

Diese SBS Abfüllung ist ein Rum aus Guyana, welcher 2003 in der DemeraraDistillery im Pot Style hergestellt wurde und 17 Jahre tropisch in amerikanischer Eiche lagern durfte. Der Single Cask wurde in Fassstärke von 59,7% Alkohol abgefüllt. Es gibt 258 Flaschen.

In der Nase zeigt sich ein schöner Kräuter Garten mit einer guten Dosis Karamel und getrockneten Früchten. Ich finde etwas Nuss, ganz leichten Anis und Leder. Ein schöne ausgewogene Nase. Am Gaumen zeigt sich der Rum trocken, mit Kräutern, getrockneten Früchten, Karamel aber auch pfeffrig mit kräftiger Würze, Vanille und etwas Nuss. Der Abgang ist trocken mit Bitterstoffen und Würze. Eine karamellige Süsße bleibt bestehen.

Ein guter solider Rum, welcher leicht zu trinken ist, wenn man es trocken mag. Die fast 60% gehen sehr geschmeidig runter und der Alkohol ist sehr gut eingebunden. Leider ist der Rum dann auch etwas eindimensional.

En smagsbombe, den er virkelig potent og tør. Men med god smag.

Aroma: Zastřená, lehce nevýrazná (po cca 10 minutách zlepšení) - eukalypt, opečený či spíše spálený toust, pekanové ořechy, tmavé kakao.
Chuť: Kořenitá, připálený karamel, hořká čokoláda.
Dozvuk: Eukalyptová svěžest, dřevitá hořkost, doznívající koření a čokoláda na vaření. Dlouhý.
