Beautiful rum, not for the faint hearted as it packs a punch, but it is THE best sherry expression ESC yet. It actually only has very subtle hints of the sherry which suits me fine, overall just a beautiful expression, with a lovely hint of chocolate and a long long finish.

Up there with the best Foursquare of all time! Buy of you have a chance!

Wow. This is 62%. Would never have guessed. Smooth, sweet and a woody vanilla flavour. Very sippable. Honestly one of my favourites.

Foursquare rhum de mélasse de La Barbade. ’un single blended rum, soit un rhum issu de deux modes distillations différents, au sein d’une même distillerie. Comme à son habitude, Foursquare tape dans le mille

I'm absoulutely stunned by this product.
The alcohole is well hidden despite the cask strength
A marvellous sherry expression. Can't go wrong with R. Seale's products!

Nose:
cherry, red fruits, dried fruits, caramel, chocolate, oak, dark molasses, sherry,

Taste:
What a banger! Multidimensinal flavour profile.
Smooth, creamy, ,cherry, sherry, winelike dark chocolate, spices, raisins, dates, roasted oak, dark and red stewed fruits.

Finish:
Very long

Addition:
Absolutely worth the money, best foursquare

There are enough great reviews that for once I don't have much to add... In short, complex and interesting, with the perfect amount of aging in Sherry casks. Add a bit of water or ice (it's still 62% despite being fairly drinkable) and enjoy.

The most common rum flavour I've seen in reviews is caramel, but often I don't get it during a tasting. That is not the case with this beauty.
At 62%, you expect something with a bit of harshness, closer to whisky flavours than lots of people would associate with rum's usual profile. This however is a Foursquare ECS, and in all true measures it stands strong with the rest of their line-up and blurs the line between whisky notes, and the true bouquet of rum.
On the nose you'd think you had ordered a caramel milkshake with some bourbon in it, then a subtle hint of dried fruit follows from the sherry cask and you know you're in for a treat.
I tried it both purely neat, and with a splash of water to proof it down and in all honesty, the full strength sips were more enjoyable I think. Rich, almost unctuous mouthfeel, with caramel, vanilla and some aged sherry notes. As it matures in the glass you get some dark chocolate (80% plus) and a bit of ripe tropical fruit (pineapple, mango, maybe a bit of lychee).
The finish lasts forever, probably a benefit of the proof, and keeps the enjoyment going long after you've finished the glass.
Others have already sung it's praises, it's a fantastic Bajan rum that really shows off the skills present in the foursquare distillery at the moment. There's a reason why the ECS releases sell out in minutes here in the UK, and this is a shining example of that reason.

The bayan rum compliments the dry nutty sherry notes. Super long finish at cask strenght. Almost cant be beat for a Barbados style rum

Rum jsem ochutnal díky kamarádům z rumové komunity v České republice. Je výborný, už od vůně přes chuť. Bohužel se mi zatím nepodařilo koupit celou láhev.

This is the latest Foursquare release in their Exceptional Cask Series. It is a blend of pot and column still rums ages for 14 years in Barbados in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Bottled at cask strength with no additives. It is the 19th release in the Exceptional Cask Selection series.

ABV: 62% Tied with the previous high ABV Nobiliary (#12)

Because of the high ABV, I’m going to do this one without and with a splash of water.

No Water (rested 10 minutes)

Nose: Cinnamon, allspice, black pepper, dark chocolate. The alcohol is definitely there!

Palate: Initial alcohol burn. Slightly thick on the tongue. Black pepper, earthy. Sherry and bourbon are very noticeable.

Finish: Nice long finish, but the alcohol lingers. Berries, like blackberry and blueberry.

Rating: 8/10

Water added (1 ml of purified bottled water in 30 ml, rested 10 minutes)

Nose: Alcohol is definitely attenuated. Sherry and bourbon, allspice, black pepper. Little or no chocolate.

Palate: Much smoother. Moderate mouthfeel. Black pepper, and some buttered popcorn. The sherry and bourbon pop.

Finish: Nice long finish, but the alcohol is not as strong. Berries, now more raspberry than blackberry and blueberry.

Rating: 9/10

This is another outstanding ECS release from Foursquare. Interestingly, one of the reasons that I’m moving from bourbon to rum is I was tired of paying $100 USD a bottle for mediocre whisky. This bottle set me back $120 USD (in Oklahoma, YMMV) but I don’t regret it for an instant (but don’t tell my wife….).

This is a delicious monster, so I don’t think that I’ll be drinking it neat. Probably with a larger amount of water - like a milliliter or two in an ounce. While I wouldn’t normally use a rum like this as a mixer, I’m going to have to try it at least once in a mixed drink. I’m only afraid that I’ll never want to mix drinks with $25 rum again….
