This one is special. I poured it and let it sit for a bit to burn off the fumes. I get a lot of caramel in the aroma which is unique. Ample brown sugar and molasses mix in as well. Surprisingly smooth for 124%, I get a bit of ethanol followed by burnt brown sugar and semi sweet caramel sauce. Slightly tangy port barrel on the finish with a nice, gentle burn that leaves my tongue numb for a minute.

Skvělý rum, slepá degu a nepoznal jsem. Nádherně komplexní rum.
We were some friends teaming up at Cane Rum Society in Stockholm to celebrate Foursquare Appreciation Day.
We started up with tasting of the four different ones seen at the added photo under lead of our friend the Swedish importer Lars Renbjer.
The fourth out was the Sovereignty (ECS XIX) which was released on November 2021 celebrating Barbados Independence Day (November 30th), which makes the name of it understandable.
It’s a molasses based blend of pot and column still rums aged for a total of 14 years with 3 years in ex-Bourbon and 11 years in former sherry casks. Bottled at ABV 62%.
The nose is rich, nutty and fruity with aromas of ginger, varnish, coconut, oak, licorice and vanilla present.
On the palate it’s complex, oaky and fruity with recognizable tastes of nuts, pepper, leather and cigar with some hints of chocolate.
The finish is long, oaky and dry with some fruity hints.
Overall a fantastic rum described in two words, dry and oaky.

Nose - Heavy, but little bit weak. Could do better. Chocolate, honey, hint of fruits and solvents. Smell is disappointment.
Taste is much better than smell. Heavy flavours explode in your mouth. Very heavy chocolate, honey, spices, pepper. Very hot and warming. In finish i can recognise weak notes of woods.
Best thing I can highlight is that strong chocolate taste, that punches you. As this, its great stuff, but for its price range, it lacks some layers/balance, in my opinion.
Exceptional Cask Selection XIX
Vyrobeno bylo 12 000 lahví.
Aroma:Vanilka, mokré dřevo, karamel, decentní vínová zatuchlost, Pronikavá % alkoholu celkem štípou v nose.
Chuť: Dřevo, karamel, velmi hořká čokoláda. Opět závan alkoholu.
Dozvuk: Vanilka, hořké dřevo a třísloviny.
Sladkost: 0/3
