Didn't know what to expect from this one. OK it has no added sugar so thatβs a good start. At 45.3% it is still mild but actually very enjoyable. This rum is actually pretty nice, nothing spectacular but a nice change. Last year I never envisaged buying Plantation rum but after discovering that some of their offerings have no added sugar I realize I have quite a few that I enjoy. The Plantation Jamaica Borderies was excellent, this one not as good but definitely something I will purchase again.. π
Update (22-04-16): Tonight I indulged in this rum again and it is growing on me. This is such a nice sipper that it rivals other more expensive rums. I never expected to rate this rum a 9 but I enjoyed it so much tonight that I am going to purchase another bottle. Really good stuff!
Tropical aging 10ys in bourbon cask, then 1 year in Ferrand cask and finally 11 months in Duvel beer cask.
Easy on the nose. Subtile on palate. A bit watery. Strong layer of Ferrand taste
signature. Bunch of delicious notes of tropical fruits, apple. But all too temporary - aftertaste is short. 45+degree is ok, smooth enough.

Rubber tree 6 out of 10
I appreciate the lack of sugar, but a too-subtle nose of ether and rubber is slightly off-putting. The taste and finish improve on the nose with some banana balancing out the rubber, but others are so much better and more interesting at this price point. As a recent scotch/bourbon convert I like the uniqueness here, but it isn't a unique that I like.
