Vůně silně vanilka, koření (badyán, hřebíček, skořice...), sušená jablka, karamel, trochu dub
Chuť sladká, sladká, sladká,
(lehce přerazí těch 61%) ,
poté vanilka, nahnilé sušené jablka, koření, marshmallow.
Dochuť lehce štiplavá, sud.
Celkový dojem je: mladý, umělý.
Plus bod za overproof.

A while ago I reviewed here a pretty average supermarket rum El Clasico XO. Then I tasted the overproof version and that's in a whole different league.

This is again a rum of indeterminate origin (Premium Caribbean Selection) bottled at 61% ABV. The price is higher than at XO version, but the increase is IMO justified.

Bottle: Same as the XO version, but differs in label color (red instead of yellow).
Color: Amber.

Nose: Pleasantly sweet, but without the unpleasant alcohol odour. It smells of vanilla, vanilla cream, caramels, Christmas candy. It is quite similar to the scent of Bumbu Cream.
Mouth: Pleasantly spicy, but also quite sharp. After all, there's already 61% alcohol in the taste. Overall, it's sweet and strong and both complement each other quite well. Vanilla, vanilla cream, gingerbread spice, liquorice and anise dominate the palate again.
Finish: Medium-long.

Summary: This is a very good sweet, spicy and strong rum. Everything is in quite nice harmony. Definitely worth adding and buying this El Clasico version.

Overall rating: 8.5/10

Maybe still a lil too sweet for 61% for some, for sure some GPL has been added, for me between 6 and 7. Feels like EC Elixir (totally sweet, candy-like wannabee-rum) mixed with something really strong. A little similar to Don Papa: Baroko (but better).
