La Maison du Rhum Trinidad & Tobago is a column style rum from the TDL Distillery in Trinidad. The Rum from 2009 was allowed to store for 12 years in Ex Bourbon barrels and was bottled in 2021 with a cask strength of 55% alcohol. The rum contains 1.5 g/L of sugar. Otherwise, no dyes were used. The rum comes in a limited edition of 3740 bottles.

The rum has a very nice TDL Nose. After the first opening, the rum needs 30min to lose the alcoholic note. The rum then shows a nice sweetness with lots of tropical fruit and bourbon notes. The wood has a lot of influence. But it also has a slightly dirty note with smoke. On the palate, the rum has a pleasant body. The tropical fruits make the beginning. The rum is sweet at first. Candied fruits and vanilla. Then follows the barrel with a smoky bourbon note. The TDL aromes are there, also some mint. But the barrel influence is very strong. Some tannins, bourbon and smoke determine the finish. The rum retains a certain sweetness.

La Maison du Rhum Trinidad is a very good sipper for 60 euros. He is not too demanding without appearing boring. The TDL flavors are there and you can see that it is a Trinidad rum. It can easily compete with the Plantation One Time Limited Trinidad 2009, although or precisely because it is different.

Der Rum ist in der Nase durchaus intensiv. Nach dem Öffnen braucht der Rum 30min um die alkoholische Note zu verlieren. Der Rum zeigt dann eine schöne Süße mit viel tropischer Frucht und Bourbon Noten. Das Holz hat viel Einfluss. Er hat aber auch eine leicht dreckige Note mit Rauch. Am Gaumen hat der Rum einen angenehmen Körper. Die tropischen Früchte machen den Anfang. Der Rum ist erstmal süß. Kandierte Früchte und Vanille. Dann folgt das Fass mit einer rauchigen Bourbon Note. Die TDL Arome sind da, auch etwas Minze. Aber der Fasseinfluss ist schon sehr stark. Etwas Tannine, Bourbon und Rauch bestimmen den Abgang. Der Rum behält eine gewisse Süße.

Der La Maison du Rhum Trinidad ist für 60Euro ein sehr guter Sipper. Er ist nicht zu Anspruchsvoll ohne Langweilig zu wirken. Die TDL Aromen sind da und man erkennt das es ein Trinidad Rum ist. Er kann im Vergleich mit dem Plantation One Time Limited Trinidad 2009 locker mithalten, obwohl oder gerade weil er anderes ist.
