Med tanke på priset i Sverige så är det här ett kap för Jamaica-älskare. Jämfört med t ex Appleton Estate rare blend så är det mycket smak i den här.
Lite banan, lite funk och en lätt touch av bränt gummi. Riktigt god helt enkelt.

Nosing

Apples , cashews , potato, cherry's, dates & caramel

Tasting
Macadamia nuts , grass , light Jamaica funk notes , more apple, peaches at the end , cognac

For a four year old rum this is class stuff , very similar to rum bar gold but has a cognac style finish delightful near and a great rum & ting

Zapach: popielniczka, czarna herbata cynamon, banany, brzoskwinia, toffi

Degustowałem jako nowść w 2021r na Jamajce. Według producenta to mieszanka rumów starzonych miedzy 4 a 12. Rum jest dirty w smaku, w drinku lekko herbaciany. Nie jest tak funky jak inne destylarnie jamajskie, myśle że jak już w koncu będzie dostępny w europie będzie solidną pozycją.

Typical jamaican funky aroma. First taste is very light and weak, almost watery. After comes slight burning and first funky tones, but again very light and uncomplex, ending in short aftertaste

The Worthy Park Select is a blend of Jamaican rums aged for 4-12 years.

In color, this rum is pale, honey like.

A very intriguing rum in smell. It is quite sweet on the nose and has heavy notes of green apples and peaches. Really extraordinary! These notes then also translate into the taste.

The Worthy Park Select tastes naturally sweet and has some funkiness to it in the form of tropical fruits and peaches. The funkiness seems to be typical of Jamaican rums. It is not a rum that would have sugar added to it and is on the drier side of the spectrum, with additional notes of dark chocolate and oak.

The aftertaste is rather short but pleasant - sweet and funky.

Overall, this rum is a nice surprise, especially at the price and worth a sip. On the other hand, the Appleton Estate 12-year, which is another Jamaica in the same price category, is still a better option for my personal taste.

Obviously, Worthy Park can produce good/great rums. This is not it. It is too ethanol harsh and lacks any deep flavors. It is inexpensive especially in Jamaica and maybe that is the offset. However, to me, I am not rating the price value but the taste value. There are smoother, Jamaican molasses flavored, and tasty caramel laced rums to choose from when visiting this island.

First thing first: This stuff is too expensive in Germany. It is not worth 25 Euros. 15 sounds about right to me.

I am told this is a mix of rums that aged 4 to 12 years. While I find 4 years plausible, I would be astounded if there is more than a few drops of 12-year-old rum in here. Seems to fiery to me for that. But I would need to try older Worthy Park rums to really know. Maybe this is a characteristic of their spirits.

Nose is funk, banana, pear, apple, some oak.

On the palate, it starts very hot and alcoholic, then mellows down a bit. Aroma is quite funky, dry, apples and pears are very prominent. A hint of glue. Reminds me of fruity whisky, even of Calvados. The oak is quite outspoken as well. Possibly some smoke - hard to tell apart from the funk. Finish is warming and a bit rough.

I like it. But for sipping it is a bit rough. And as a mixer, too expensive in Germany.

I would like to put this into a blind tasting with strong, fruity whiskies. I would like to know whether people will know it is a rum, not a whisky. The funk might give it away, but everything else is very whisky-esque. Which is great fun - and "whisky plus funk" sounds very good to me.
