I just do not like this one. Maybe ok for a mix. But alone is week and not interesting rum.
Niente di particolare. Molto leggero in bocca, buon profumo
Pineapple and a slightly sweet aroma. A great warming flavour in the mouth. Lasting sensation in the throat. For the price this is an excellent rum.
Aroma
Lime, pie crust, and fresh sugarcane.
Taste
Raisins, molasses, plums, and a gingerbread cookie finish.
This rum is great! This is a great example of a classic Barbados rum. It has a deliciously potent and enjoyable flavor which is amazing neat but also makes a great mixer. This is a blended aged rum under Martin Cate's classification system and a flavorful one at that. It is best used in recipes where the blended aged rum is the main rum flavor in the drink so a stronger flavor makes more sense. Overall, this is a great buy and a must have for any Tiki bar!
Somewhat sweet, a bit harsh. Overall, it’s decent but definitely nothing special. Price point is solid.
Light nose, still trying to pull a specific smell. A little oily feel at first sip. Can't get past the pepper finish to pull any other flavors. Might have to revisit this review after a few more tastings.
Seeing as the Plantation 20th Anniversary XO is one of my favourite rums, I thought I would try the much cheaper 5 year old, if for no other reason to compare and contrast. Wow, what a let down in comparison! That’s because this 5 year old is disgusting. It’s so inferior to the XO that I’m genuinely shocked that these two completely different rums are produced by the same distillery! On the palate this 5 year rum old has plenty of sweetness to it, but no real distinguishing flavour to speak of, so it just comes across as rather bland. Then you’ve got the fact that the alcohol burn is too harsh, making this very unpleasant to stomach. Then, on top of all that, if things weren’t already bad enough, in the finish this rum possesses a horrid taste. Full disclosure, I’m struggling how best to describe said taste, but think of spiced apple and you won’t be a million miles away from the truth. Oh, did I forget to mention that the finish is weird as well as being awful!
Figyelem!
It's smell is not wholey unpleasant but it definetly does smell slightly harsh, however, when you try it, you will see that nothing could be further from the truth! First off, this rum is very smooth and delicious and it is also fairly complex. It definitely has a big hint of coconut and although it's smooth, it will make your mouth tingle. It's reasonably priced and absolutely worth the money. Get yourself a bottle if you can find it!

Forraltbor csak bor nélkül 5 out of 10
