NR: Very good Fiji pot still rum

out of 10
This rum has typical Fiji pot still aromas (salted tomatoes/petroleum).
The taste is a little bit more intensive and smoother than the TRC 19y Fiji from TheRumCask.
Smell: A typical Fiji smell greets me. Oil, salted fruits, vanilla and olives. Medicinal notes with petroleum also come through. It is intensive and has some pepper and other spices as well.
An excellent Fiji with no particular surprises.
Taste: It starts with vanilla, salted fruits (melon/pear) and is oily/smooth. All the flavors intensify towards the middle. It quickly increases in spiciness. Delivers peppery flavors and some tannins. There is a combination of tar and petroleum in the background.
The finish is long and with pickled vegetables, vanilla and peppery notes, a bit medicinal. The wood is not overly present, as is so often the case with Fiji rum.
This one is more intensive than the best 19y Fiji from TRC. Therefore I would rate it with one more point.
