Better than all other takers. Malibu, Parrot Bay and Cruzan step aside. This is easily the best flavored rum around and dat 70 proof offers much more potency than the others. Real coconut flavor for all drinks. Even good on the rocks.
Forget Malibu, Cruzan and the rest - until you've had this one you haven't had coconut rum.
The light colour made me think this would be a mixing rum, but I was pleasantly surprised. The first aromas are sharp, but left to breath the oak, nutmeg and slight banana emerges. Taste is smooth, warm and all the flavours above are present. A nice find that I will be looking out for again.
I saw this bottle in a liquor store I frequent in Maryland, and thought I'd give it a try. Much to my delight, it was an exceptional explosion of rum and coconut from the first sip. Perhaps a bit over the top at times, it's still delicious. I could easily sip (gulp?) this rum neat or on the rocks all day long. It's addictive.
Brinley Gold Shipwreck brand makes some very good/high quality rums and their Coconut Rum is no exception. If you are a fab of coconut rum then this is for you. It smells like heaven and the taste keeps you there. I can drink this neat, on the rocks or in a nice tropical cocktail. It even goes well as a shot dropped inside a pint of Kona Brewing companies Koko Brown . Ala a boiler maker tropical style. Cheers
As for flavored rums, I feel this has a very authentic taste. Great coconut flavor, not imitation. Very smooth for a higher proof, flavored rum. It is sweet, so I enjoy in limited quantities, but a touch of tropical when desired. I like this product. Also, would be great with tropical mixed drinks.
I'm rating this a 6 as a flavored rum, not as a proper rum. While flavored rums (or vodka, whiskey, etc.) may not be considered proper rums, they serve a purpose. When mixing up fruity drinks and cocktails, a flavored rum can mitigate using a diabetes inducing load of syrupy ingredients like cream of coconut. But most flavored liquors taste like they were whipped up in the Mars candy factory laboratory. This one doesn't. Granted, it's sweet. Too sweet to drink straight up in my opinion, but doesn't have that chemically, test tube taste to it. It taste like rum made with coconut. And sugar. Lots of sugar. And this could get you in trouble with coke, because hey, I'm just drinking vanilla coke. While not well versed in coconut rums, this is the best one I've tried. It's a few dollars more than other readily available offerings I've tried, and well worth it.
Ran across this delightful treat while flying through St Kitts and the second this new-to-me spirit touched my lips, my first word was "wow!" I couldn't get a case fast enough and every friend I have gifted this to constantly reminds me of how thankful they are. Try it. You'll be amazed. Great mouthfeel, long lasting real coconut and cane sugar.
Great flavor, really sweet, perfect mixer. Really love mixing it with Brinley Vanilla and coke with a big lime wedge!

Awesome. 10 out of 10
Easily the best coconut rum i've ever had. Very smooth. Not overly sweet. Has an almost toasted coconut flavor. Makes malibu taste like suntan lotion.
