This is a special edition Colombian Dictador rum made with rums from the stock of Parra family. The rum was distilled in 1991, it is 29 years old and aged in American oak barrels from port wine . It was bottled at 40% ABV.

Bottle: Classic Dictador shape with a cork cap sealed with gold wax. Supplied in a white cardboard box.
Colour: Mahogany.

Nose: Really intense with notes of dark fruit, wood, coconut, spice and smoke.
Taste: Quite strong (considering the % ABV) and dry. Intense aromas of wood, fruit brandy (plums, apricots), port wine, leather, cocoa, blackcurrant and smoke. The wood influence is very strong after long ageing. However, the rum mellows out over time.
Finish: Long

Conclusion: This is a rum that is more suitable for more advanced rum drinkers. The aroma and taste are very intense. There is already some bitterness in the aftertaste, but this helps to increase the intensity of the flavour. Forget the classic sweet Dictadors you have known until now.
Overall rating: 9.5/10

Aroma is nice, wooden and complex. Taste is on dry side, with wet wood, leather and iodine - almost like mixed with some Caroni :-) Aftertaste is full of smoke and tobacco on palate. Nice surprise from Dictador, but can be too much for typical Dictador fans.
