Rumclub Private Selection 2007 Australia 14-Year

The Rumclub Privat Selection 2007 Australia is a rum from an unnamed distillery from Australia and was allowed to be stored tropical for 10 years and continental for 4 years. The Single Cask was bottled in cask strength with 65.5% alcohol without sugar, dyes or filtration in 369 bottles of 0.5l.

This rum should stand in the glass for 60 minutes and breathe. The very high alcohol content needs time to unfold. Despite the biting nose, I do not find the rum alcoholic. I get a lot of fruit with grape, currant, tropical fruits. Roasted flavors, vanilla and tobacco. A fine caramel sweetness is combined with some bakeing spice. A beautiful nose. On the palate you have to proceed cautiously. I recommend small drops or dilute. The first drop burns. Then the aromas unfold. The rum is spicier than in the nose. Barrel aromas with some bitter substances and roasted aromas come together with tropical fruit. Tobacco and some leather resonate. The finish comes with some dark chocolate and more bitter substances. The rum is dry and a bit astringent.

Rumclub Australia 2007 is the best rum from Australia I have been able to taste so far. It probably has a higher ester content and the high alcohol content characterizes the rum. It should be drunk attentively. A few drops of water can help the rum. An interesting rum, where the nose inspired me even more than the taste. Reminds me a bit of rum from Trinidad.

Dieser Rum sollte 60min im Glas stehen und atmen. Der sehr hohe Alkohol Gehalt braucht Zeit sich zu entfalten. Trotz der bissigen Nase finde ich den Rum nicht alkoholisch. Ich bekomme viel Frucht mit Traube, Johannisbeere, tropische Früchte. Röstarmonen, Vanille und Tabak. Eine feine karamellige Süße kombiniert sich mit etwas Backwaren. Eine schöne Nase. Am Gaumen muss man behutsam vorgehen. Ich empfehle kleine Tropfen oder verdünnen. Der erste Tropfen brennt. Dann entfalten sich die Aromen. Der Rum ist würziger als in der Nase. Fassaromen mit etwas Bitterstoffen und Röstaromen kommen zusammen mit tropischer Frucht. Tabak und etwas Leder schwingen mit. Zum Abgang kommz etwas Zartbitterschokolade und mehr Bitterstoffe. Der Rum ist trocken und etwas astringent.

Der Rumclub Australia 2007 ist der beste Rum aus Australien, den ich bisher verkosten konnte. Er hat wahrscheinlich einen höheren Ester Gehalt und der hohe Alkohol Gehalt prägt den Rum. Er sollte aufmerksam getrunken werden. Ein paar Tropfen Wasser können dem Rum helfen. Ein interessanter Rum, bei dem mich die Nase noch mehr begeistert hat als der Geschmack. Erinnert mich etwas an Rum aus Trinidad.
