Rum zrál nejprve 14 let v sudech po bourbonu a poté ještě 11 měsíců v nově vypálených sudech z andského dubu.
Čtvrtý rum v rámci "Master Blender Collection"
Vyrobeno bylo 2760 lahví.

Aroma: Opálené dřevo, pražené ořechy, zatuchlá vanilka, muškátový oříšek, kokosky. Moc pěkná vůně.
Chuť: Štiplavá a dřevitá - výrazné taniny (dost připomíná whisky)
Dozvuk: Opálené dřevo, opět muškát, sušené ovoce (švestky, meruňky), doznívající jemná kořenitost. Delší.
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek
O dost lepší než předchozí Port Cask. Experiment s vypálenými sudy z andského dubu udělal divy - jedná se o velmi osobitý a mnohovrstevnatý rum. 8+/10

this is a limited edition, very expensive bottle, aged well, ABV is high enough to release flavors ...
but this rum lost the typical charm of Barbadian rums i like ...
ok i satisfied my curiosity and bought this bottle but i can t give a 10 like various Bajan rums i tried, so in this experiment the wood destroyed the rum, i mean it is good yes but not as i expected, too much wood and less fruitiness than usual plus for this money they give the same bottle as their (cheap) XO ...
conclusion: will buy again and again their XO and master select, not this one or any other of their limited editions (maybe only if i go to Barbados and also before i buy i will taste it ...)
having this after lunch, paired with a beautiful (medium/strong) Gurkha Ghost Exorcist cigar ...
nose: 10 way better than in mouth, aromas are perfect
mouth: 6 here is my delusion
finish: solid

Never tried a rum aged in andean oak before but this one definitely brings us along a great taste journey. The nose introduces vanilla pods, light tobacco, old magazine, banana and raisins. Very fruity and floral. On the palate, the spice from the Andean oak introduces itself, funky pot still goodness is strong here, dried tobacco, super fruity with ripe pear, toasted almond with coconut flakes, and chocolate. Great balance of thick, spicy sweetness. Have been super impressed with the Mount Gay Master Blender Collection Series. Well done Trudiann Branker!

Unique and a good experiment. Not as good as other premium mount gay rums

Great present, my son went into my Rum Ratings account and found two great rums I’ve never tried before. One for my birthday one for Father’s Day, just 2 days apart. Been a fan of Mount Gay rums for 30-40 years, so nice to try something new and cask strength or close at 48%. Sampling this one neat as suggested. On the nose the distinct notes of the Andean Oak cask, I presume as unlike any other rum I’ve sampled. First taste reminds me of some hi ester Jamaican rums, but much smoother finish. This is a nice sipper and could take a while to get used to, but I’m a fan for the nice departure of Mount Gay’s safe zone.
