Harsh, still a mixing rum

I was hopeful for this rum, but the extra age hasn't elevated it much from their standard overproof offering. It's best quality is the wonderful rich caramel notes that it fills the room with when a glass is left open. Unfortunately, once you sip it, that complexity and warmth is replaced with an alcoholic burn, still far too present even when diluted with ice or water.
