Nicaragua | Aged | 45% ABV | Column Still (5+) Distilled
Created in commemoration of Flor de Caña's 130th anniversary, this rum is a special 90 proof luxury rum carefully crafted by Flor de Caña's Maestro Ronero, Tomas Cano, who has been perfecting his art for more than 35 years. El Maestro hand selected 20-year-old small bourbon barrels from the Family Reserve, which have been aging without artificial ingredients or added sugar at the base of Nicaragua's most active volcano.

Wonderful nose with notes of toffee, pineapple, and oak. Beautiful combination of vanilla, caramel, spice, and a chocolaty aftertaste on the tongue. A pleasant smooth finish with notes of oak and toffee with a hint of burn. Overall, wonderful rum. This is a bottle best savored!
either you, 1. need psychiatric help or 2. have a lot of disposable income to spend on rum. Crystal clear deep amber color. Aroma vanilla and raisin with a bit of alcohol burn. This is a 45% ABV rum but even neat the added little extra alcohol volume is not that noticeable and on the rocks.. WOW!!!. Perfect amount of sweetness and a bit dry (not as dry as most bajan rums but still a dry rum). Fantastic on ALL levels.
At 45% ABV, my initial impression was that this rum was going to burn. But has a smoothness to it like a good bourbon (meaning the higher ABV doesn't matter when the quality is right. Delicious.
After reading some reviews, i decide to overlook the 25 years and grab this one, instead. At the same price, 110 bucks the 25 and 108 bucks this one, i thought that 20 years old and 45% alcohol would spice things up better! It quickly overcomes all of your senses. Its smell is strong, woody, fruity. Taste wise, it is heavenly. The strong burn is just right and the extremely long aftertaste that fades very slowly, is to die for! I feel sorry for opening it, since it is a collector's item that cannot be replicated, but i promise to cherish it, enjoying it well! Maybe i will consider giving a shot at 25y too, some time in the future.
I'm not a huge fan of the Flor de Cana rums, as I find them too uninteresting. Rum purists might like this, but there's not much to it.
Semi sweet/dry, with notes of caramel, spice, charred oak, vanilla, and almond. Ever so slightly better (and 5% stronger) than their 18 year old.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Sampled as part of the Austin Rum Society in April 2023. This one was the best of the four we tried. Quite sweet, a little oak but not overdone, smooth. My understanding is it is 45% ABV and minimum 20 year aged. Excellent.
