Don’t remember a whole lot about nose and taste as this was one of many at a rum festival, but just that this one stood out as one of the best. Rich of flavours and a great, long aftertaste.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Montebello 10 years Brut de Fût from the Carrere distillery in Guadeloupe distilled in 2010 is first aged 7 years in American bourbon barrels and then for additional 3 years in former Cognac barrels whereafter it’s bottled in 2000 numbered bottles at its natural strength in July 2021.
About the distillery:
The Carrere distillery often referred to as the Montebello distillery after it’s main brand, was founded in 1930.
1966 it was bought by the Marsolle family and is now run by the fourth generation of this family.
In most of the production they use hand harvested cane from the surrounding farmers.
They still uses a steam boiler and is equipped with 2 distillation columns, one in copper, the other in stainless steel. They also use a special technique by locking in the filled barrels in steel containers to increase the maturation.
Back to this rum:
In nose I recognize glue, lychee, apple and vanilla.
On the palate it’s rich, delicious and sweet and I recognize calvados, lychee, passion fruit and nutmeg.
The finish is long and woody.
Overall a rich and elegant rum with a gourmet profile with a woody and roasted accent.
