Now this one is really made for whiskey drinkers, you can feel the Irish casks influence, but it s a column distilled (not pot still), it s a solid very dry rum but again nothing exceptional, no 9 or 10, just a good eight, it s released in only 5000 bottles (now other limited editions out), so grab one before they are finished ... again i have to say that Lucian distillers (in my opinion) made better job with some Chairman s Reserve editions than with Admiral Rodney series, St lucia is a little bit south of Martinique and a little bit west of Barbados, but (for now) they are not at their level in making rum (of course they have good potential, will try more of their rum if just i can)
this is the third admiral rodney i tried and it s a little better than HMS formidable and HMS monarch ...

I am satisfied with the most of Admiral Rodney rums. Including this one.
Nose- a bit stronger alcohol kick than I expected/ it is only 45%/ but pleasant.
Taste- semi-sweet rum base / I like that/ Of course you can feel whisky scent. This combination makes this particular release acceptable for both worlds.

Vanilla, thinner, raisins, honey and oak in aroma; vanilla, honey, tobacco and licorice in body; pepper and warm tail.

I am glad a splurged on this wonderful rum. You can taste the extra wood and peat flavours which add to the sweet smoothness of the rum. Harkens me back to my travels through Ireland, yet maintains that dependable high quality rum smoothness. Im not even a whiskey guy, but this have just enough whiskey finish without drowning out the rum.

Officer's Release No. 2 je výběr rumů destilovaných v roce 2009.

Dozvuk: Vanilka a nálož opáleného dřeva. Delší.
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek
V pořadí druhý release se velmi povedl - stejně jako Port Cask má i tento rum ze Sv. Lucie krásnou vůni a plnou chuť.

This is nice rum. I like the Admiral Rodney line up. This is a spectacularly interesting rum idea. Marrying St Lucia rum with Irish Whiskey. I give a 10 for creativity. Unfortunately, Rum and Irish Whiskey don't play all that well togetherl. The nose is strong and has Irish Whiskey all over it. It opens warmly on the palate. Brisk and buttery with a veil of tart whiskey flavors. It isn't sweet but irish finish tries to force it there. Complex but not balaced, No harmony. Finish is medium long and fades smoothly. Superb idea but not a great union.

This rum is very hard to find. I accidentally found it at Martins wine & Spirits in Metairie, La. the next closest retailer is in Houston!

I tried a sample of this in the store, offered in glass stemware. So good I bought a bottle.
My last plug for the store - customer service was great, they have wine tastings all the time.
If you like Foursquare rums, you should like this one.

Variety of flavours on the palate, true Barbados rum at its best!

My second Rodney rum and so far I've never been disappointed. Whiskey tones from A to Z. Probably for advanced drinkers and whiskey lovers. Relatively strong rum but I find it decently sweet. Needless to say they definitely offer one of the better packages and bottling compared to rums on +/- same price level.
