Inspired by the legend, we finished the finest Japanese and Pacific rums in Mizunara – Japanese Oak Casks before filtering through washed ashore and bleached Japanese corals to create a perfectly smooth blend with hints of Japanese tropical fruits on the nose and spiced-vanilla in the finish.
Minoki Rum is The First Mizunara Cask Finished Rum Brand in the World.

Not bad but not great. A very plan and boring rum that isn’t worth the $65 US. Not a lot going on but if that’s your thing then you’re in luck. A little vanilla and a hint of caramel is about all you get.
Someone at this tasting is knitting and that seems like an appropriate backdrop for this fairly quiet rum.
It's not like there is a mistake or danger here, just that there's not as much "there there" as one might hope.
Somewhat pungent flavor.
I feel guilty drinking even a tiny bit of a rum that was aged in a barrel made from 200 year old trees 😢
Laka lono tasting 11/30/22
3/10
EDIT: Also tasted 8/7/22 at Laka Lono and this time I loved it, giving the rum 5/5.
Notes include a drawing of coral, and these words: Does this taste like coconut? Essence of Coral is yummy!
Reviewer note: Changing the rating based on a combination of these two, resulting in a 7/10
Typická mizunara, kterou znám z whisky. Hlavně vanilka a dub. Příjemné pití, láhev bych nepořizoval.
Sampled at Laka Lono. Sepia color. Big caramel aroma. Unusual mild, sweet up front, but a medium black pepper finish. This rum has the gimmick of being aged on coral, but I'm not sure what that's supposed to accomplish. Grassy finish. Just because you age it in a crazy expensive barrel doesn’t mean the rum is good.
I've been on a world wide rum journey for decades. I love trying rum from all over the world. This is the 1st 1 rating I've ever given any rum. I drink my rum with 1 ice cube and after it sits it obviously is going to get diluted. The first sip of this is exactly like the last sip of any other rum I've tried with an ice cube in the glass. The only way anyone is going to make me believe this is not watered down is if I personally see this rum go from cane to bottle in front of me! I sat here and had 3 glasses of it and not even a slight buzz. I give it maybe 25%ABV at the most. During this worldwide voyage one encounters some outstanding rum and some not so. This is way below the not so! No character, no significant notes except purified water and it has maybe seen the insides of a barrel for a month. Sorry but steer clear of this one!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The nose is excellent caramel and cane nose very appealing but the taste is weak mellow, no kick no burn, finish has a hint of toffee. If this were barrel proof could be a 9, but just no follow through.
