Kaniche XO rum is produced in Barbados where it is first aged in bourbon casks. It is one of the few rums that is then double aged for a more mellow finished in Pierre Ferrand ex cognac casks at their location in France.

Smooth with vanilla notes typical if island rums, with a sophisticated aged taste.
Light amber color. Soft and tasty nose, flowers, resin. Pretty plain. But taste is much better, sweet and pretty simple.
Recommended by Robert at Total Wine, associate was very knowledgeable on Rum. As a sipper, it’s sweet and light with hints of vanilla, cinnamon and coconut. Bargain at $29. Cons are added sugar, enough to make it have a sticky feel to it.
Utrolig sød, ikke lige min kop te. Lillebroderen Kaniche Reserve, er langt bedre.
This was alright for the price. Found it on sale for about $35. Definitely has a taste of banana and some sweetness. I would definitely drink again but maybe not purchase again. Has a slight burn at first taste as well
Decent rum, was a bit disappointed, but it is still a decent buy $25 at Total Wine. Good nose a bit of a burn on the finish.
I've been using and loving this rum for a nice selection of tiki drinks from the Smuggler's Cove book with great results. For cocktails, this aged blended rum gets a 9/10. For sipping, it's also enjoyable but not quite as much, hence the 7. It reminds me of a Smith and Cross overproof but without the bite and a little sweeter. I'm also tasting grass/green foliage about 20 seconds after swallowing. Not necessarily unpleasant but doesn't add anything.
Sugar: 24 gpl. This rum is very soft on the palate is moderately sweet with tastes of coconut, cognac, vanilla, and honey. It's is similar to Plantation XO but is a little softer and less bold or sharp of a taste. Basically it is Plantation XO Lite. As other rum posters mentioned, this was suggested to me by the Total Wines associate and he was right. This is a great tasting rum for sipping at a moderate price. If you see it in your local store, try it.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I agree with another reviewer who compares this with Plantation...it's similar to their Grande Reserve 5yr with a bit more depth. To me that's not a bad thing and although it's a bit sweet, I don't consider it a "sugar bomb." It's a flavorful Barbados rum, not exceptional but quite drinkable. However at $57 out the door for 750ml, I'll be sticking with Doorly's XO for now.
