The Excellence Rhum Trinidad 2003 is a molasses rum from the TDL Distillery from Trinidad and was allowed to store tropical for 5 years and then another 13 years continental in Ex Bourbon barrels. The rum produced in the Single Column Still was bottled in cask strength with 65.6% alcohol without dyes or filtration. The bottling is limited to 250 bottles.
The rum shows a great complexity in the nose with intense aromas. A slightly dirty TDL with lots of tropical fruit. Berries, orange, but also leather, smoke and a beautiful wood note. For me absolutely top and absolute Champions League. On the palate, the rum is warm and intense. Full-bodied, the rum brings many aromas of fresh red berries, tropical fruits, leather smoke and wood. The rum changes as it leaves. Becomes drier with a slightly dirty smoky note in which mint and eucalyptus can be found. The finish is then astringent and with roasted tobacco, wood, menthol and bitter substances.
A terrific rum with a great complexity. One of my top 3 rums ever, as it meets my taste exactly. The 65% alcohol is perfectly integrated and never disturbing. The rum presents Trinidad absolutely fantastic and brings many facets. The Excellence Rhum Trinidad 2003 is expensive, but here I have to say you can taste the price, because for me it is also superior to the other high-quality bottlings such as RA Trinidad 2001. Had to buy two bottles. Just wow!
Der Excellence Rhum Trinidad 2003 ist ein Melasse Rum der TDL Distillerie aus Trinidad und durfte 5 Jahre tropisch und dann noch einmal 13 Jahre kontinental in Ex Bourbon Fässern lagern. Der im Single Column Still hergestellte Rum wurde in Fassstärke mit 65,6% Alkohol ohne Farbstoffe oder Filtration abgefüllt. Die Abfüllung ist auf 250 Flaschen limitiert.
Der Rum zeigt in der Nase eine tolle Komplexität mit intensiven Aromen. Ein leicht dreckiger TDL mit viel tropischer Frucht. Beeren, Orange, aber auch Leder, Rauch und eine schöne Holznote. Für mich absolut spitze und absolute Champions League. Am Gaumen ist der Rum warm und intensiv. Vollmundig bringt der Rum vieles Aromen von frischen roten Beeren, tropischen Früchten, Leder Rauch und Holz. Der Rum verändert sich beim Abgang. Wird trockener mit einer leicht dreckigen, rauchigen Note in der sich auch Minze und Eukalyptus wiederfindet. Der Abgang ist dann adstringend und mit gerösteten Tabak, Holz, Menthol und Bitterstoffen.
Ein grandioser Rum mit einer tollen Komplexität. Einer meiner Top 3 Rums überhaupt, da er genau meinen Geschmack trifft. Die 65% Alkohol sind perfekt eingebunden und nie störend. Der Rum präsentiert Trinidad absolut fantastisch und bringt viele Facetten. Der Excellence Rhum Trinidad 2003 ist teuer, aber hier muss ich sagen schmeckt man den Preis, da er für mich auch den anderen von mir verkosten hochwertigen Abfüllungen wie z.b. dem RA Trinidad 2001 noch einmal überlegen ist. Musste zwei Stück kaufen. Einfach wow.
