Prednedávnom som skúšal mierne drahšieho súrodenca Tesoro, jednalo sa o chutný jemný dominikánsky rum o rovnakej voltáži 38%. Vôňa Esplendida je menej výrazná, zato príjemná, cítiť karamel a vanilku, tiež mierny etanolový podklad. Chuťovo ide znova o jemný, stredne nasládly typ, s prevahou tónov medu a spomenutej vanilky, spektrum je znateľne užšie ako pri prv ochutnávanom bráškovi. Záver je trochu krátky až vodový, keď v dutine ostáva len rušivý alkoholový "štípanec". Čím ďalej, tým mám silnejší dojem, že lacnejšie rumy rôznych značiek stajne Oliver & Oliver (kategória do 40€) sa mi na seba až príliš podobajú, akoby boli produkované z identického základu. Každopádne ide aj teraz o pohodové pitie, no pre slabú mieru svojbytnosti a uvedenú cenu hodnotím len silnou šestkou.

A blend of rums from the Dominican Republic at 38%ABV strength, which is quite common strength for Oliver's rums. These are solera up to 12 year old rums that have been aged in French oak barrels.

Nose: It's typical Oliver - vanilla, citrus, caramel, coffee, flowers and smoked wood.
Flavour: Smooth, sweet with a hint of wood. There are vanilla, orange, sweet coffee, dried forest fruits, pepper and oak wood.
Finish: Medium-long.

Finish: This is a pleasant Spanish-style rum that is not over-sweetened and is very smooth in flavour. A good rum for a relaxing evening sipping.

Má to jenom 38% a alkoholově to je velmi jemné. Není přeslazený, med, dřevo, ovoce vanilka. Chutnal mi, až jsem se trochu styděl.

Typical Oliver rum, a little sweet with nice smell. Good for occasional sipper who prefer sweeter than dry rums.

Nose is wood (white oak?) heavy vanilla a bit thick and almost syrupy. Leans too sweet for me but has a long vanilla taste

Rather nice rum. More into sweet flavors. Zero to none spicy feel. Warming alcohol is quite decent and soft. Fine with me

I wasn't expecting much in this price and 38 ABV. But in Oliver & Oliver they know what they're doing and created perfect consumer grade sipping rum. Not strong, not bold in exploring interesting tastes, but sticking to the pleasant smell of sugar cane, toffee, vanilla and nip of chocolate, super sweet taste with bit of bitter spices on the end. Sweet bakery, bit burned caramel, little bit of fruity acidity (overriped fruit). It goes down smoothly and I think this must be favorable all on consumer level.
