Tasted at Hell or High Water in Denver December 7 2023.
Appearance: light amber
Aroma: orange and funk
Flavor: dust, bandaid, orange blossom, toffee.
I am so glad I was able to taste this rum! The flavor lingers and is a complex mix of floral, citrus, and funk.
This mix of column and pot distilled rum is aged in Kentucky. You get some light butterscotch and wood, just enough hogo/funk to make it interesting, but this understated rum bored me as a sipper; I think it's meant as a versatile cocktail rum.
Made by the same folks as "The Funk," the label implies some of that is in the base (presumably providing the pot stilled component). Some of that salinity and fruity nose comes through, and it's more balanced, but it's not quite able to stand on its own.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Tasted at Hell or High Water on 12-7-23. Pours amber in color. The funk hogo aroma is less than the regular The Funk, but still present. This has apple cider and peanut brittle flavors. Really nice, but the bourbon barrel aging actually decreases my fondness for The Funk.
