Deep amber with a nice sweet nose. Mildly sweet with brown sugar and vanilla leading the way. A little heat, but finishes nicely.
Smell picks up on the bottom two thirds of the "nasal appraisal" with earthy and woody notes. Smell is balanced, not sweet. When it first hits you, it's whiskey... burn and all. Definitely got the new oak and smoke. Give this to your whiskey friends. Needs a cigar. Finishes harsh. The bite outlasts the taste.
If you’ve been a whiskey fan for a while and are trying to get into rum, this is where you need to start. Minimal sweetness but a great mixture of whiskey undertones and rum flavors. Nice smokey finish with some sweetness. Pair this with a cigar and you’re in for a great time.
Not a bad rum. Sweetness is balanced, flavor is good. Higher ABV does Cayuse a bit of burn at the end.
This lightly aged rum has a gentle sweetness that eases into an oaky, spicy, nutty flavor which comes from the virgin American oak barrels in which it is rested. It would be an excellent transitional rum for a whiskey drinker, without being too oaky for a rum drinker.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

We went to the Lakeland distillery and Christain gave a great tour, tasting all his rums and even the Coquitos. Delicious and the drinks at bar were outstanding. The Riskey being aged in deep bourbon casks is very good. Great color and delicious
