Opthimus 25-Year

Presentation of this rum is wery nice. Bottles shape and the dark mahogany colour , wery neat rum honey caramel vanilla what hits first. Nice rum

Un cran en dessous de l'ambassador ou de l'abuelo centuria mais pas au même prix non plus.

Excellent rhum aux notes de caramel, cafe leger noix et une finale mielee et chocolatee.ce rhum est plus complexxe que le 21 que je note 9.2.ce rhum a obtenue la meilleure note en 2016 au rhum xp 2016 de miami des rhums de plus de 18 ans.il est moins boise que le 21 qui reste unique et que certains peuvent preferer.j ai donne un plus au 25 car plus complexe mais je crois que je prefere cette note boisee du 21.les 2 dont excellents.des vrais rhums de qualite.un seul mini bemol pour certains ,il manquera un peu l alcool.un rhum plus feminin....

Dette er indbegrebet af en rigtig god ROM . Den sidder lige i skabet for mit ved kommende og er helt perfekt til en stærk ost.
Fyldig smag hvor både ost og rommen komplimentere hinanden.

More complex than 21 & 18, the vanilla is still present, the oak wood take the lead with figs and prunes. Very long aftertaste with coffe and chocolate aroma but you have to wait and allow oxygen to do his work.

En rigtig fin rom, som er fyldig, cremet og sød. Næsten for voldsom i sødmen og mangler kant og skarphed. Er egentlig mere til nogle af dens yngre brødre, da denne næsten kan blive for kvalm.
Når det er sagt er det stadig en overordentlig dejlig rom.

Oliver y Oliver don’t distil their own rum but, according to them, acquire selected ultra fine alcohol from the best distilleries in Panama, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and other distilleries from the French and Caribbean islands. They age, blend the different rums to be matured in Tempanillo and Bourbon barrels using the traditional Solera Method.

I was surprised to learn that they have a considerable product range. This includes the brands of Quorhum, Cubaney, Presedencial. The Opthimus range is apparently their higher quality rum.

The Opthimus range comes in a wide variety of solera ages (12, 15, 18, ,21 and 25) and also two additional finishes for the 25 year old (malt Whisky & oPorto)

I picked up the standard 25 year old. The rum comes in an unassuming chunky bottle with a written bottling series number and year which is a nice touch. Suprised to see that it isbottled at only 38% abv.

A dark mahogany brown color. Sweet smells of caramel, dark fruit, vanilla. The taste is again very sweet and similar to the nose but not lots of complexity. Good long finish with a bit of dry oak. Very morish though.

A bit pricey for an under proofed solera rum. However it does make for a very tasty and easy drinking solera rum

Den smager godt, den ligger i den dyre basis ende, men jeg er ikke blæst bagover.

Rum eccellente. Molto morbido. Equilibrato. Amarognolo.
