NR: Very good agricole, almost similar to La Mauny 2005 bottling 9 out of 10
Smell: Darker smell, sugar cane, caramel, dried fruit, fermented fruit. This is very reminiscent of La Mauny, but the smell is a little less fermented. Slightly peppery and grassy aromas in the background, vanilla from the Bourbon barrel. There is nothing new about it, but it feels a little more balanced.
Taste: Sweet start with fermented fruits and dried fruit, fermented sugar cane. The spiciness increases slightly, some peppery aromas develop. The sweetness subsides again, fermented fruits with sugar cane remain. Hardly any grassy aromas, some white oak (light wooden barrel aroma).
The finish is spicy with fermented fruits and peppery aromas.
Aftertaste: fermented fruit and dried fruit, fermented sugar cane
Conclusion: This is already on the level of La Mauny, the flavors are almost similar. It's just more on the darker rum side than on the agricole. I have to say, I like that a little better, even if I find La Mauny a little more complex.
