Dieser Rum ist aus einem Crowdfunding-Projekt entstanden, Pot Still einer unbekannten Destillerie auf Jamaika, 11 Jahren in einem Ex Bourbon Fass aus American White Oak gelagert, abgefüllt in Deutschland.

In der Nase ein richtig tolles Erlebnis, harmonisch und ausgewogen. Feinste Backwahren mit allerlei tropischen Früchten belegt, Ananas, überreife Mangos und Rambutans. Unter diesem leckeren Belag sind Himbeermarmelade und Vanillepudding mit Karamellsauce. Eichenholz, frisch gehobelt und leicht getoastet, Bienenwachs und diverse Moose geben dem Ganzen eine inspirierende Note.
Am Gaumen zuerst etwas forsch, wird aber beim Verweilen auf der Zunge in kurzer Zeit Seidenweich. Ein samtenes Tuch aus Aromen breitet sich aus. Vanillegebäck mit Ananas, Trauben, Litschis und Pfirsich mit etwas karamellisiertem Holz und Mandelsplitter, so wie du es erwartest.
Im Abgang lang und lecker, Früchte und Karamell gehen zuerst, zurück bleibt etwas wie Milchschokolade.
Ein toller Rum der Freude macht, ein tolles Fass ausgewählt ! Für Entdecker, Neugierige und Geniesser. Bei einer Blindverkostung hätte ich diesen Rum nicht als Jamaikaner identifiziert eher als Guyaner, aber das liegt wohl daran dass ich momentan eher die Ester-Bomben bevorzuge. 8++

This rum was born from a crowdfunding project, a pot still from an unknown distillery in Jamaica, aged 11 years in an ex-bourbon barrel of American White Oak, bottled in Germany.

In the nose a really great experience, harmonious and balanced. Finest bakery wares topped with all sorts of tropical fruits, pineapple, overripe mangoes and rambutans. Underneath this delicious topping are raspberry jam and vanilla custard with caramel sauce. Oak, freshly planed and lightly toasted, beeswax and various mosses add an inspiring touch.
A bit brash on the palate at first, but becomes silky smooth in short order as it lingers on the tongue. A velvety sheet of flavors spreads out. Vanilla pastry with pineapple, grape, lychee and peach with some caramelized wood and slivered almonds, just as you'd expect.
Long and tasty finish, fruit and caramel go first, left with something like milk chocolate.
A great rum that gives pleasure, a great barrel selected ! For explorers, curious and connoisseurs. In a blind tasting I would not have identified this rum as Jamaican rather than Guyanese, but that's probably because I currently prefer rather the ester bombs. 8++
