As a big fan of Islay whisky and peat I have to appreciate this one. Rum with hints of smoke and peat, just great!

And another bottle from the UltimatuM Finish Series. 3-year finish in Ballechin bourbon barrel, distillery unknown, bottled at 43.1% vol.
Honey colored amber in the glass.
Very tart, woody, mossy and resinous nose. Withered flowers and overripe fruit are perceptible. A bit of charred caramel and vanilla cream dusted with ash enrich the whole.
On the palate soft and a bit bulky at the same time. Hard and woody at the start, which turns into a certain spiciness and finishes with burnt, salty caramel doused fruit.
In the finish remains on the shot a small wisp of smoke, fruit, wood and caramel go a little earlier.
A barrel experiment that has produced a very special rum. For discoverers and lovers of such things.
