Vraiment agréablement surpris par ce rhum. Mon premier des Fidji et je le qualifierai de belle surprise de la part de Plantation, rhum assez doux mais vraiment appréciable, à essayer

Alc./Vol. : 50,2%
Origin : Fiji - Tum Co. of Fiji
Raw material : Molasses
Fermentation : 4-5 days, triple Column Still
Year of Distillation : 2005
Tropical aging : 14 years in 200L Bourbon cask,
Continental aging : 1 year in 350L Ferrand casks
Volatile substances : 266,4 g/hL AA
Esters : 99,1 g/hL AA
Dosage : 4 g/L

We have here a column distillation, yeah this has not the complexity of the Jamaican 2003 pot still Clarendon release.
But the nose is not bad and still interesting. A lot of dry fruits, caramel notes with plants and earth are greeting you. No typical rotten Fiji vegetables there, yeah this is not a pot still rum. Still not bad, I also like these fragrant flatterers.
The taste differse from the nose. It's not a Fiji taste, it's a taste you can find in Venezuela rums combined with some woody rums from Barbados.
I like the change in flavors, it's like a journey from Venezuela (Pampero Aniversario) to Barbados (Mount Gay XO). But typical Fiji flavors are still missing. It's cleary an 8 and I think you can understand why.
I got something completely different from what I expected. The aromas are not unique, I miss the plastik and picled tomatoes.

Nose: caramel, dry fruits, burned sugar, plants/herbs, some flowers, earth (quite intensive), some orange in the background
Taste initial: caramel, burned sugar, dry fruits (plum) - reminds me of Pampero aniversario
Middle: orange, oak, some earth (MG XO)
Finish: spice, earth, oak with some bitterness, orange - reminds me of Mount Gay XO

Sweetness: 2.5/5
Fruits: 2.5/5
Spice: 3/5
Intensity: 3.5/5
Mildness: 3/5
Complexity: 3/5
Value (58€): 2.5/5

Great aged Fiji rum. Honey sweet. Fragments of flowers/raisins/thyme.
Not too heavy but a "big" taste.

I’m in to collecting unusual rums, so rum from Fiji why not.light golden hue not a lot on the nose, slight alcohol hint. OK flavor goes to quick alcohol burn lingering taste. Would not buy again.
