S.B.S. 2002 Fiji 18-Year

S.B.S. Fiji 2002 Rum is a pot still rum. It is a typical Fiji rum.

Smell: A typical Fiji smell greets me. I perceive oil, salted fruits and olives. In contrast to RA Fiji 2001, we have a typical profile here, no dried fruit or the like in the smell. I also find vanilla, more olives and wood. Medical notes with a little tar and petroleum also come into their own. It is spicy and also has a lot of pepper and other spices. That is very reminiscent of the TRC19. An excellent Fiji with no particular surprises.

Taste: It starts with vanilla, the salted fruits (melon and pear) and is oily. All the flavors intensify towards the middle. He quickly increases in sharpness, dances on the tongue. Delivers peppery aromas and some tannins. In the background there is a combination of tar and petroleum.
The finish is medium-long and spicy, with vegetables, vanilla and peppery notes, somewhat medicinal. The wood is not overly present, as is so often the case with Fiji Rum.

Aftertaste: oil, pepper, vanilla, salted fruits (pear and melon)

Overall rating: 91 points

Conclusion: A very good and typical Fiji Pot Still Rum as it should be. It doesn't have a unique point, but it is nicely balanced, strong and also has intense aromas.

Vyrobeno bylo 240 lahví.

Aroma: Výrazné tropické ovoce (ananas, mango), velmi jemný nádech máty a medu. Dost připomíná nízkoesterovou Jamajku.
Chuť: Výbuch tropikého ovoce, krásně jemná - nepálí, neštípe.
Dozvuk: Tropické ovoce, lehká dřevitost, doznívající mirabelky a špendlíky. Dlouhý.

Tropické ovoce, ovoce a ovoce. Parádní rum z Fidži v jamajském stylu.

Za mě super pohodove pití. Estery tak akorát, ovoce lehká drevitost.

The S.B.S. (Single Barrel Selection) Fiji from 2002 is a molasses rum, which was produced in pot still and allowed to store for 18 years. The rum from the Danish bottler 1423 was then bottled in cask strength of 57.1% alcohol into the typical S.B.S. bottle without dyes, sugar or filtration. There are 240 bottles of this Single Cask Rum.

The rum is very appealing on the nose with a lot of esters in the form of fermented tropical fruit. In addition, there is some rubber, wood and smoke. But also spice. A beautiful rum, which is very similar to the Barikenn Fiji. On the palate comes first a pleasant sweetness in which the ester with the gum and fermented aromas inserts. However, the rum is dry with recognizable barrel influence. A beautiful spice is recognizable. In the end, the rum becomes drier and ends pleasantly.

A very good Fiji Rum with a lot of esters. A typical Fiji, which is very similar to the Barikenn Fiji, but costs twice as much. The price is too high for me here.

Der S.B.S. (Single Barrel Selection) Fiji von 2002 ist eine Melasse Rum, welcher im Pot Still hergestellt wurde und 18 Jahre lagern durfte. Der Rum vom dänischen Abfüller 1423 wurde anschließend in Fassstärke von 57,1% Alkohol in die S.B.S. typische Flasche ohne Farbstoffe, Zucker oder Filtration abgefüllt. Es gibt 240 Flaschen von dem Single Cask Rum.

Der Rum ist in der Nase sehr ansprechend mit viel Ester in Form von vergorener tropischen Frucht. Dazu kommt etwas Gummi, Holz und Rauch. Aber auch Würze. Ein schöner Rum, welcher dem Barikenn Fiji sehr stark ähnelt. Am Gaumen kommt erstmal eine angenehme Süße in der sich der Ester mit dem Gummi und vergorenen Aromen einfügt. Der Rum ist aber trocken mit erkennbaren Fasseinfluss. Eine schöne Würze ist erkennbar. Zum Ende wird der Rum trockener und klingt angenehm aus.

Ein sehr guter Fiji Rum mit viel Ester. Ein typischer Fiji, welcher dem Barikenn Fiji sehr ähnlich ist, aber das doppelte kostet. Der Preis ist für mich hier viel zu hoch.
