A navy-proof rum that mixes the typical navy-style molasses/burnt caramel flavor with that Jamaican fruitiness/funk. Not my thing as a sipper, but works extremely well in cocktails!
A strong aroma. Warm to taste, nice caramel finish and a bit of vanilla taste. Good for price.
This is a great sub for traditional navy rums, packing in 54.5% ABV and colored a rich caramel mahogany hue. This is a cocktail workhorse! Great in tropical and tiki recipes calling for a dark rum, not as strong and overwhelming as OFTD (Plantation) can be, and much better bodies and tasting than Myers or Goslings .
This was originally to have been called “gunpowder proof”, but a certain litigious British brand prevented that from stealing their thunder.
This rum is a great value, but I wish it didn't have added color. It's not your typical Jamaican rum, but it's your typical rum. There's nothing special here other than a great value for a very good mixer.
It's watery - I've expected it to be oily like others pot stills. 3 weeks fermentation should result in more estery spirit, but here it's so so. Not very funky, just enough. Taste is interesting, but nothing exceptional.
However, its perfect for Mai Tai.
Blend of different marques including unaged and aged with caramel for color and flavor.
Nose: Cherry, very toffee heavy with toasted butter, ripe banana, some char also and of course esters but not nearly as much S&C
Palate: Toffee, toasted butter, char, some salt too, cherry, overripe banana with little heat and some burnt caramel bitterness too, light oak with some tannins and vanillin. Light acidic esters, semi sweet but very pleasantly so.
Finish: Goes down easily, leaves sweetness and some caramel, butter and char.
Decent mixing rum, not as interesting or flavourful as smith&cross which is more estery and fruity and pungent, this is more mellow, bit more of a mellower Guyanese pot still seasoned with esters so if that is of any interest to you then this is a good choice.

Na nose mírné estery se dřevem a výrazným karamelem z flambovaným banánem. Chuť to kopíruje. Na mně je to málo vybalancované, drinky s toho rumu famózní.
