Aged for a whopping 16 years in the tropics, it has notes of canteloupes, molasses, maple syrup, cinnamon, white chocolate, treacle, brown sugar, pecans, caramel apples, raisins, plums, cloves, espresso, apricots, hazlenuts, nutmeg, chili peppers, oranges, luxardo cherries, and vanilla.

For me is the best rum I have ever tried.
I got a sample to taste this one.
On the nose, very fruity, caramel and vanilla.
The taste is quite spicy and peppery. Even though is aged 16 years, does not feel woody.
The ending is medium on the sweet side.
This is the first 10 I scored here in rum ratings and hopefully not the last.

Really unique rum - highly recommended for whiskey drinkers that are looking for something that drinks more similarly to whiskey and want to experience a truly great rum.
Very complex and flavorful, but certainly leaning heavily on the ex-bourbon. Tons of vanilla and oak from the casks with a nice fruity undertone. Good long aftertaste. Pretty high proof too!

Exceptional Cask Mark XVI
Rum zrál 16 let v sudech po bourbonu.
Vyrobeno bylo 9600 lahví (4800 EU a 4800 USA)
Shibboleth je původem slovo z hebrejštiny - část rostliny obsahující zrno. Znamená také ale "odlišení od ostatních".
Aroma: Zatuchlé dřevo, vanilka, pražené mandle a kešu, kokos a stopa slanosti.
Chuť: Nasládlá, karamelová, jemná.
Dozvuk: Spousta dřeva, opět kešu, lehce nasládlá rozinkovost se doplňuje s dřevem. Nepatrně kouřový.
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek
Jelikož jsem porovnával s Nobiliary, jednalo se doslova o souboj těžkých vah, který dopadl remízou. Oba dva jsou jasných 10/10. Kdybych si opravdu musel vybrat vítěze, zvolil bych Nobiliary díky větší ovocnosti. Ale oba dva jsou (alespoň za mě) tím nejlepším, co značka FQ může momentálně nabídnout.

Tropical and dark fruits for days.. topped up with warm caramel cream. Dessert in a bottle. Balanced, complex flavours and absolutely fantastic. Loved it.

There is a fruity and caramel note. Very smooth. Delicious and strong. After pouring the rum over ice, the flavor changed a bit. Definitely a delicious blend of many different flavors.

On to sampling Foursquare Shibboleth.
This 56% ABV Foursquare Shibboleth rum is another beautiful rum made by Mr. Richard Seale. I have been a fan of Foursquare rums for some time and am just getting to the point where I can finally sample those.
This is a complex rum like I have notexperienced yet.

Stunning but more subtle than some others before which serves as a point of difference within the ECS range.. I am already on my 2nd bottle and will buy more if possible as I think this might become a classic like Criterion. Very very easy to drink, beware!!

I'm uncertain about how best to score this ECS offering. When I first opened the bottle and tried it, it was rather underwhelming. Pretty "meh". I revisited it a couple of weeks later and it was much more enjoyable, easily up there with my preference for Empery or Redoutable. I had another glass about a week ago and it was all fire with very little enjoyment. I thought it might have just been my palate, so I had another glass a few nights ago, and it was back to being enjoyable. This rum is all over the place for me, which I am more inclined to explain with my own palate being the cause. I'm still uncertain about it though.
On the nose I've found brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, and floral notes. It has a very nice nose. On the palate I had a nice sweetness, with molasses, butter cream, vanilla, spices, and dried fruit, with a nice spicey heat. That's on the good days. On the bad days, it's nothing but heat, all the way down. The finish on good days is a lingering heat, heavy tobacco, and oak. The finish goes on and on.
If the experience were more consistent, I would rate this a 9, but I have to rate it an 8 due to the negatives I've noticed on the off days.
