HSE 2013 Whisky Kilchoman Cask Finish 6-Year

HSE Kilchoman finish is a special mix from two great regions, Martinique and Islay.
The rum was aged in the tropics for 6 years and then finished for 4 months in whisky barrels.
It was distilled in November 2013 and bottled in February 2020 in just 4100 bottles.
The aroma is a mix of typical cane juice and the smokiness of whisky from Islay. It’s grassy, fruity, spicy, peaty and smoky with possibility to detect licorice and raisins.
After breathing for a while it’s also becoming quite woody and nutty.
In mouth and on the palate the whisky becoming even more present. It’s very smoky and I also detect Cigar and ash besides the aromas that also comes back.
The finish is surprisingly round, smoky and ashy.
Overall a quite elegant rum that must be perfect for people loving whisky that wants to test rum.

On the nose: caramel, nougat, herbs, sugar cane, subtle tropical fruits, brown sugar, sweetness, hint of smoke, pineapple, subtle starfruit.

On the palate: hint of smoke, fresh herbs (coriander, parsley), spices, sweetness & nougat, a hint of tropical fruits, sparkling.

In the finish: herbs, spices, subtle nougat, some dark chocolate, coriander.

In der Nase: Karamell, Nougat, Kräuter, Zuckerrohr, dezent tropische Früchte, brauner Zucker, Süße, Anklang Rauch, Ananas, dezent Sternfrucht.
Am Gaumen: Anklang Rauch, frische Kräuter (Koriander, Petersilie), Gewürze, Süße & Nougat, Hauch tropische Früchte, prickelnd.
Im Abgang: Kräuter, Gewürze, dezent Nougat, etwas dunkle Schokolade, Koriander.
