Very felicitous blend of Ghanaian 90 and Jamaican (obviously Hampden) 10 percent Rums. Blended by Rum Club Berlin at cask strength. Despite the rums being very young it is very drinkable neat. I missed that bottle when it was released (for only 50 EUR). Special gratitude to Gunnar who shared some of his bottle with me.

EDIT: This blend has a brother: Rum Club Edition Nr.: 28 "Cudjoe"

The Rumclub Privat Selection Edition 14 Nanny of the Maroons is a blend from Jamaica and Ghana. The rums are all very young and stored between 3-12 months.

The rum is very extreme and sharp in the nose. He should be able to breathe for at least 30 minutes. The nose has a lot of fermented aromas. You really have to like that. The ester aromas are reminiscent of fermented pears and have a lot of acidity. Something grassy with citrus resonates. The nose is not my cup of tee. A little water helps. On the palate, the rum is amazingly sweet. The pear is barely noticeable here. The ester becomes thicker with tropical fruits and light wood note. The whole thing should be enjoyed with caution because the alcohol is aggressive and sharp.

An exciting experience that doesn't quite appeal to me. Trying the rum was very interesting. But I wouldn't buy it. For this it is not balanced enough and has too much acid.

Here's a nice blend of 12 month aged Jamaican rum and 3 month aged Ghanaian rum (10% Worthy Park / 90% MiM). This rum is bottled at 65.3%ABV.

On the nose that 10% Jamaican rum is definitely showing up (unless the MiM rum is known to be funky?): rotting banana, grilled ripe plantain, hot pepper, and banana bread. The palate is creamy, hot and chewy. The finish is creamy and mint. Intense rum - perhaps I should have added a little more water to my sample, as it was a little rough. But overall a good rum.
