Wäre in Fassstärke sicher reichhaltiger.
Für Liebhaber von Portwein und Fassfinishs, Geniesser und auch Einsteiger. 7+

Beautiful amber with copper reflections in the glass.
In the nose a wonderful bouquet of flowers and fruits. Marguerites, roses and tulips blend with grapes, pears, plums and a few red berries. Paper and freshly peeled wood can be detected discreetly in the background.
A bit nondescript and intangible on the palate. Flavors flit across the tongue like a shadow. Caramel, vanilla and candied fruits try to evade the taste buds. Woods, tannins and a bit of resin are only noticeable at the edges.
The finish finally frees the spirit and lasts a long time. Grapes and chocolate suddenly appear, caramelized wood and vanilla sauce join in.
An honestly refined rum that needs time to breathe. Would certainly be richer at cask strength.
For lovers of port and barrel finishes, connoisseurs and beginners alike. 7+

Artesano, a German company bottles traditional rum. They are experimenting with different finishes and casks. I like this fact. This one is from Panama, single cask 178-16, bottled on 5th June 2020.
I don't had any rum from artesano before. I don't expect much because of the dilution but lets see.

In the nose I got sweet notes of burned sugar and dry red fruits like cranberries, cherries also raisins. Very aromatic and intensive nose. A little bit of gum from the port cask influence and sulphur is also there. Some typical chocolate notes are in the background but very weak. It's a little bit earthy deeper in the glas and also spicy. Nice nose overall.

The taste starts a little bit sweet and diluted. I get some burnt sugar first with dry red fruits like cranberries and cherries. I notice also some paper, it's a kind of wood influence.
There are some slightly bitter notes, I think they are from the young rum, thats not tannins from the wood. After that I get some cocoa notes that are typical for Panama rums. Then there are also some spices, I notice cloves. The finish is spicy and a little bit bitter, I can't find much aromas there. It reminds me of diluted cold coffee.

A nice rum in the nose, with some weaker points in the taste. Not bad at all, I would rate it with 76 points.

Taste: diluted burnt sugar, dry fruits (cranberries, cherries), paper, some slightly bitter notes (could be from the column still) and some woood influence, some chocolate notes, some spices (cloves)
Finish: spicy, a little bit bitter (not much aromas here), diluted cold coffee maybe

Sweetness: 1.5/5
Fruits: 3/5
Spice: 3/5
Mildness: 3.5/5
Complexity: 2.5/5
Value (50€): 2/5

A fruity aroma, some sugar. The taste is more spicy, light burn of alcohol, a little bit fruity.
