Ron Cristobal Santa Maria Oloroso 14-Year

Slightly sweeter than I normally would drink but it works with its almost whisky like flavour. No additives.

Limited edition Dominican rum with a strength of 46% ABV. The rum was distilled in 2006 and bottled in 2020. Before bottling, the blend was aged for 17 months in an Oloroso sherry cask. The entire edition numbers just under 1500 bottles.

Colour: Dark mahogany

Nose: Fruity and woody with a smoky profile. Very pleasant aroma of sherry wine. It also smells of caramel, dried red fruits and a little resin from the barrels.
Taste: It is rather drier, but it is smooth and does not sting on the tongue. Very varied with a strong wood component. The palate shows fruit (unripe bananas, unsweet strawberries, grapes), nuts, oak and a little furniture polish.
Finish: Long.

Finish: A very complex rum with a strong fruity-woody flavour. A pleasant surprise for me, as it doesn't taste typically Dominican, and given the limited number of bottles, I purchased one.

Aroma is woody and warm. Taste is sweeter (no added sugar) after appear wood, berry, mint and a bit of vanilla. Aftertaste is average long, but pleasant. The price (approx. 80Eur) could be lower...
