Had a tasting of the “Vieux 3-years” & the “Special Réserve 6-years” with my son. We both thinks that they both are great.
None of them are produced anymore, so they will disappear from the market in a short while.
The 3yo is really great for being just 3yo and are the precursor of the “Premiere Cuvée 4-years”.
After warmed up it’s a little bit sticky, but after less than a minute the aroma is getting quite pleasant.
The same goes for the palate and the finish which is medium long.
If you let it breathe a while it’s getting very smooth.
It’s possible to recognize fruits, spices and of course licorice and some sweetness as I have found in all Rhum from Reimonenq so far.
The difference between the two is that the 3yo is a little bit smoother than the 6yo, but the 6yo has deeper and more powerful taste.

Light weight but full body flavor with tobacco notes and a nice variety of spices. Perfect for ’Ti Punch on a beach in Guadeloupe. Not for the casual sipper who thinks the French spell Rhum wrong.

Visited the Reimonenq Distillery in Guadeloupe and bought a bottle of Rhum Vieux from the distillery since their tasting bar was very limited. Pretty decent bottle and label design. Golden color. Typical Rhum Agricole flavors alongside grass, fruits, vanilla and plenty of oak followed by a strong burn being so dry. Rhum Agricole fans can easily add 2 points to my score.
