Limitovaná edícia od English Harbour s vysokým obsahom Congenerov. Vôňa príjemná ovocná s medom a korením v pozadí. Chuť najprv sladká, na jazyku pôsobí husto - olejovito. Taktiež cítim ovocie, drevo a korenie. Naozaj silný a veľmi chutný rum. Bohužial už je vypredaný. :(

Strong and fruity on nose as you may expect. Honey, vanilla and grass notes. Taste is complex caramel, fruit, vanilla and wood. The rum is quite spicy and I recommend it on rocks(ice) as it calms it down. Then it becomes more accessible. The finish is again fruity and woody. One of great ones and big surprise from English Harbour. Get one if you can.

Bought me three bottles of this one some weeks ago. Tasted it April 30th to celebrate the forthcoming summer which is a tradition during this day in Sweden.
I made the tasting back to back against the Velier 2012 English Harbour.
In the nose I can recognize fruits, wood, smoke and some vanilla and chocolate.
In mouth and palate it’s very fruity, woody, flowery and intense with hints of orange and chocolate.
Overall it’s very intense, strong and complex
I can really recommend it especially if you feel sorry that you missed the Velier 2012 English Harbour edition you here can get a rum that’s about the same. I’m quite sure that I can’t separate them in a blind test.
Pictures: The two bottles tasted back to back out in the Stockholm archipelago & My ADL shelf by moment.

Velmi jemné a příjemné dřevo, vanilka oříšky i něco s ovoce.

The English Harbour High Congener is a molasses rum from Antigua, which was allowed to store tropical in bourbon barrels for a little over 6 years. It was bottled in barrel strength of 63.8% alcohol in a limited edition of 1200 pieces.

The rum has some strong sweet vanilla and caramel notes. Also some dry fruits, dark chocolate and roasted flavors. Some wood and spices resonate. All very balanced and creamy. On the palate, the rum comes with a lot of power. It has a pleasant complexity of caramel, dry fruit, vanilla, sweet toffee and wood. The bourbon barrel comes through nicely. The rum has some heat and a little water calms him down a lot. Then it becomes a little rounder and more accessible. The finish hat again nice caramel and woody.

I was very positively surprised and for 50-60 Euro you get a lot of rum here. Some water and some time to breathe help the rum, which has some complexity to show. I think it has a very fair price performance.

English harbour is not my favorite rum.
I know that many people like these bottlings. But I think the rum often has metallic aromas and some bitter substances from a column distillation. In addition, the rums are bottled too young in my opinion, with a longer aging they would be on a higher level.

Nose: Sweet nose with caramel, bourbon wood (vanilla), a lot of dry fruits (raisins, peach) and cinnamon. It's also a little bit flowery. Some metallic aromas are in the background, it indicates that it's a column still distillation. It's quite sharp, I can't stick my nose too deep in the glas. A hint of barrel aromas is also there (orange zests). Good nose, very sweet and almost too sharp.

Taste: Sweet start with caramel, dry fruits and metallic aromas (this is the weak point). The rum is sharp, the sharpness increases towards the middle and releases some tannins. I get more white oak and vanilla from the bourbon caks. It tingels in the mouth and continue sweet with many dry fruits and some bitter tannins. The finish is sharp, bourbon wood, vanilla, dry fruits (peach, raisins), some bitter tannins.

Aftertaste: dry fruits, bourbon wood, cinnamon

This rum has good aromas, it reminds me of the RA Belize rum. It has some weaknesses. It's too sharp and the metallic aromas with bitter substances are too present on the palette.
Column copper savalle still destillation means the most of the heavy aromas are killed. With some more aging this could became a very good rum.

Overall: 84 points

Sweetness: 3/5
Fruits: 3.5/5
Sharpness: 4.5/5
Complexity: 3/5
Value 58€: 3.5/5
