Sur glace c'est pas très bon
J'espère qu'avec tu coke c'est meilleur
The initial smell of the open bottle, of sweet treacle and cherry was a welcome invitation. Once poured into the glass, the rum's brown / red colour was observable, along with a more noticeable alcohol smell. The initial sip (straight) was a little harsh, although the sweet "cherry coke" flavour was clearly evident. There are some other flavours in this rum, although I can't discern what they are. Once this rum is watered down a bit with some ice, then cola, it makes a great 'rum and coke'... Complex (a whole lot going on) to me... The only negative is the syrupy texture that is left in your mouth after taking a drink. Rating = 6.7ish :)
Nose promises more. Surprisingly sweet. Could also work in cocktails.
I really like this one with ginger beer. Not bad on its own neat, but definitely a cut above for a nice jamaican dark(ish) rum.
Vollmundig mit einem leichten Kaffeearoma. Pur, on the Rocks, als Cuba Libre.....ein echter Allrounder.
A basic dark rum, but good all the same. I imagine that it'd be good with coke.
Only sampled this one from a 30ml dram so cannot comment on the bottle. Nice colour and great nose, smells - an abundance of burnt toffee and raisins and a touch of creaminess. Held in the mouth for any length of time and you get a slight tingle and a touch of heat, maybe spices, funnily enough i didnt think it was overly sweet unlike other reviews. A rather dissapointing finish something a bit chemically hanging around in the palate after I had swallowed. Shame as up until then I might have purchased a bottle but I couldn't see myself sipping and enjoying it enough after that.
Very nice rum. Sweet and tasty. It has toffey finish. Not woody, not harsh. Dark colour.
Prijemny rum, tmava Jamajka, vzhledem k cene nedela rozhodne ostudu.
"sweetness of the aroma is overpowered by the youthfulness..."

'Deep amber brown in color, Blackwell...'
"Drink Spirits reviews Blackwell Black Gold Special Reserve rum"
The nose is rich, dark molasses and caramel.
"The sweetness of the aroma is overpowered by the youthfulness of the blend and the burn is long lasting and leaves little by way of flavour in the mouth, just heat."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Great simple Jamaican Rum for mixing

out of 10
Minor Update, I wish we could give half bottles, this has a little more going on than I gave it credit for. It is a simple, but delicious, mixing rum, bit there are definite, but subtle, notes of coffee, chocolate and vanilla in the finish on this one, easily a 7.5 and still one of my favorite mixers.
This rum is actually wonderful due its simplicity. It is a straight up expression of Jamaican rum, which is great to find in this day and age. The nose and tasting palette are quite similar, strong nose of molasses and not much else to get in the way. The other nice thing is it is incredibly smooth. This is such a perfect blank canvas to mix with almost anything. I just tried it in a Trader Vic's Grog and it was fantastic, light and slightly sweet allowing the passion fruit and other flavors to pop and shine.
The other great news is the price, for under twenty bucks you really can't go wrong. Sure, you could use other white or gold rums that would be completely absent in a drink's flavor profile, but this does a bring a Jamaican molasses punch to the party without strong funk or other notes that are sometimes not as desirable.
Definitely give this one a try if you like Jamaican rum and need a good basic mixer.
