If you're looking for something to warm you up in the dead cold of winter, say on a weekend with friends and all you had was this shooter canteen you filled up a few weeks back with this dark rum you order across the country from another province, but oh boy does it hit just right. Definitely bold and intense with its flavour of molasses, vanilla and the bite is just enough to make it a sip for a finger or two. I will say if you're not careful, you'll be lovey dovey dancing and kissin' any smooth talker who comes your way so be forewarned, or forwarmed? I say it goes both ways, just don't get weird and drink responsibly folks play as you were!
Sweet, syrupy molasses. Smooth for sipping but a tad too sweet
Dégusté à St-John, Terre-Neuve. Pour un rhum fait au Canada, il est intéressant en dégustation! J'espère le retrouver un jour pour le déguster en ti-punch!
I bought this because it’s Canadian. Wish I checked rumratings first. To me it’s like molasses mixed with grain alcohol. Maybe a small amount in a cocktail might work. The company needs to come up with some cocktail recipes.
Looks very nice in the bottle and is Well presented. Very dark in colour and has a decent smell. I was quite excited to find that it was made in Canada and the reason I bought it. However the first notes of tasting is like it was mixed with sea water as it has an initial salty taste that I just couldn’t get over. I would not recommend this rum as one to drink straight. Very sweet but there is something I just found off about it.
Chilled rum Three ounces, three tbsp of water in a frozen glass makes for a wonderful sipping beverage for my liking. Somewhat disappointed that This rum is over the top with sweetness and overpowering with the aroma of molasses. Soo much so that no other distinguishing features that can fight through to make themselves known. Best used as a topping for quality ice cream or similar deserts.
Love the part that is Canadian and from Nova Scotia. Saddened that that it missed my mark.
The nose is all molasses, the taste is more of that but brings in sickly sweet brown sugar and a bit of a bite. I'd say it's also a bit on the cough medicine tasting side. While impressively powerful and rich in flavour - not an every-day choice, one for when you need something bold and uncompromising in a mix.
Peppery vanilla molasses goodness. At first it was a bit sweet but then again it was going down like a lead balloon. Quenches the thirst well. Im impressed.
Eastern Canadian Dark Rum. Barrel aged with a smooth molasses flavour.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is the rum that got me into rum, and I‘ll be the first to admit that I‘m likely nostalgic about it and as such look at it with rose-colored glasses. However, a Canadian friend of mine brought a bottle of this to Europe once, and it was delightful. We had to drink out of plastic cups in a hotel room as far as I recall, but it didn’t matter. Since it’s been years I can’t recall the exact notes anymore, but it was smooth, sweet, and had zero burn. If you’re not into sweet this is not for you, but I am and liked it for that. I see reviews mentioning saltiness, which makes sense given how it’s made, but I can’t recall anything of the sort. I‘ve been looking far and wide, but I haven’t found a way to import it to Germany easily, so one of these years I‘ll just have to fly over to Canada to buy some more.
