Ron Colon Salvadoreno Coffee Infused Rum Red Label rum

Ron Colon Salvadoreno Coffee Infused Rum Red Label

El Salvador | Flavored | 55.5% ABV

Ron Colón Salvadoreño coffee infused rum is made with a base of 6-year-old column-distilled rum sourced from Licorera Cihuatán distillery in El Salvador. Small additions of unaged Jamaican rums sourced from Worthy Park, Hampden and Monymusk, as well 3-year-old rum from Worthy Park estate bring a rich flavour experience. The 111-proof coffee infused expression is made with the addition of whole bourbon coffee beans sourced from Jags Head Coffee in El Salvador. The infusion is made in a cold brew style; the beans are blended with the rum for 48 hours, imparting a rich chocolate, cherry fruitiness into the spirit, creating a balance between the coffee and rum. Can be enjoyed in a coffee highball or Negroni.

I think this is such a fun building block for some old Fashions .... or any bourbon cocktail.

Aromas of tropical fruits are most apparent with fresh banana and sticky pineapple. Ad- ding to this there is a deeper aroma of rich raisins and prunes.

I am a fan

It is a stronger version of a blend of Salvadoran rum from the Cihuatan distillery and rums from Jamaica (Worthy Park, Hampden, Monymusk), to which is added an extract of Salvadoran coffee beans. The maturation period is approximately 6 years and the rum is bottled at 55.5% strength.

Bottle: Slim and tall.
Colour: Light yellow

Nose: Ripe fruit, plum jam, mocha coffee, almonds, vanilla, dark chocolate and wood.
Flavour: Strong, woody and dry. The strength of the rum warms the palate and the tongue. The palate has dark chocolate, strong coffee, plums, spices and a lot of oak wood. The rum is a little bitter at first, but it mellows out slightly later.
Finish: Long.

Finish: This is a very strong tasting rum that can show its strength and show it properly. It kicks up quite a bit after drinking, but then mellows out. If you like rum and coffee, you will be satisfied. Although I didn't taste the less strong green version (40.5%), I would probably choose the stronger one based on past experience.

Got a sample of this rum from RR Tasting Club. The coffee taste dominates from nose via palate to the medium long finish.
But the coffee is not as bitter as it’s in the Green Label, maybe because of the higher ABV at 55,5%. Besides this I recognized, just as in the Green Label, chocolate and some sweetness.

Wow, this was an experience. Very different to other high ABV rums, crisp and smooth. Nice funky tunes.

Mix with tonic and win the party. Easy.

While personally the Blue Label for me is the real winner, I was pleasantly surprised by this expression. The coffee flavour coming from an infusion of whole coffee beans from El Salvador is strong, but not overpowering. The Rum blend and the coffee pair beautifully, creating a long lasting caramel finish. And as a bartender the mixing possibilities are endless. If you are looking for a liqueur this is not it. No sugars, no BS, high quality rum and high quality coffee beans, represented here with transparency and out most respect for the components. I like.

Fantastic notes of sweet dried fruit and sweet pineapple. Rounded off with dry coffee notes.

Nice high abv so it takes dilution well.

Infuse a great rum with coffee and you make something unusual and cool. The combination of coffee and 55% alcohol burns beautifully in your mouth. Lots of coffee in the smell and taste, but it feels genuine, not artificial and not overdone in my opinion. If you get the chance, try it!

When I opened the bottle it smelled sweet, so when I tasted it I was expecting that “standard” sweetness with everything that has coffee. But not this Ron Colon. Its amazing! Super balanced def not a liquor and gives me the freedom to use it as I want. Now spicing up my Pina Colada’s with it and SUPERB in a RonGroni (negroni with rum)
Totally amazed how they got these flavours so well balanced

I'm not a big fan of this rum, as I find the Ron Colon Coffee infused rums to be too bitter for my liking. But I do like this a bit more than their Coffee Infused Green Label Rum. I think it's because this has more rum flavor to it, while the green label is just pure overly bitter coffee.

Roasted coffee and woody in the end in aroma, strong milled coffee, dark chocolate and maybe dried plum and banana in the body, rising warm tail
