This Velier bottling is from the National Rums of Jamaica series and is a rum from the Long Pond distillery. It was made in 2007 in pot style and was allowed to store 12 years tropically in ex bourbon casks. It carries the mark TECA, which states that it is a continental flavored high ester rum. The ester content is a proud 1200-1300 gr/hlpa. The rum was bottled at 63% cask strength with no additives or filtration. There are 3560 bottles.

The rum has a beautiful amber color. I let the first glass breathe for about 30 minutes. The nose is powerful, direct and intense. Lots of fermented tropical fruit, glue, solvent and varnish. The esters hits it hard. In addition, roasted aromas, toasted barrel and candied nuts. The whole thing is super funky and complex with an amazing depth and dark tones. On the palate, the rum explodes in absolute complexity. First comes a direct intensive fruit note. Tropical candied fruit with nuts, spice with vanilla and a nice hint of wood. Solvents, all slightly fermented. The rum is strong and creamy but also has a lot of funk. The finish is incredibly long with fermented wood. Toasty aromas, wood and ester. A light astringent makes the rum wonderfully dry.

This is incredibly tasty and really good. The best Long Pond and maybe the best Jamaican in the age group i had so far. There really is a lot going on and the rum manages to find the perfect balance between ester influence and cask maturity. Cool. Bring it on. This is rum of the absolute top class.

Er wurde 2007 im Pott Style hergestellt und durfte 12 Jahre tropisch in Ex Bourbon Fässern lagern. Er trägt das Mark TECA, welches aussagt, dass es sich um einen continantal flavoured High Ester Rum handelt. Der Ester Anteil beträgt stolze 1200- 1300 gr/hlpa. Der Rum wurde mit einer Fassstärke von 63% Alkohol ohne Zusatzstoffe oder Filtration abgefüllt. Es gibt 3560 Flaschen.

Der Rum hat eine wunderschöne Bernstein Farbe. Das erste Glas habe ich ca. 30min atmen lassen. Die Nase ist wuchtig, direkt und intensiv. Viel vergorene tropische Frucht, Klebstoff, Lösungsmittel und Lack. Die Ester hauen voll zu. Dazu Röstaromen, getoastetes Fass und Kandierte Nüsse. Das ganze ist super funky und komplex mit einer erschaunlihcen Tiefe und dunklen Tönen. Am Gaumen explodiert der Rum in einer absoluten Komplexität. Erst kommt eine direkte intensive Fruchtnote. Tropische kandierte Früchte mit Nuss, Würze mit Vanille und einem schönen Holzeinfluss. Lösungsmittel, alles etwas vergoren. Der Rum ist kräftig und cremig hat aber auch richtig viel funk. Der Abgang ist unheimlich lang mit vergorenem Holz. Röstaromen, Holz und Ester. Eine leichte Adstringents macht den Rum wunderbar Trocken.

Das ist unfassbar lecker und richtig gut. Der beste Long Pond und vielleicht der beste Jamaicaner in der Alterstufe. Da kommt wirklich viel und der Rum schafft es die perfekte Balance zwichen Ester Einfluss und Fassreife zu finden. Geil. Immer her damit. Das ist Rum der absoluten Spitzenklasse.

This is strange and amazing. The "typical" insanely funky Jamaican rum that does a wonder with the age, but there is an overpowering rotting carcass note that is almost the entire aftertaste.
