The Panama Rum by Our Rum and Spirits was produced by the Don Jose Distillery in Column style. He was allowed to rest in oak barrels for 11 years. Then it was filled with 52.7% barrel strength without additives and without filtration. There are 247 bottles of this single cask rum.
The light rum is spicy and fresh in the nose. Citrus fruits are clearly recognizable. Oak and some sweetness resonate. On the palate, oak notes clearly come through. I taste something smoky, which reminds me of whisky. But also nice fruity notes and a mild sweetness. The alcohol is well integrated and in the finish the wood notes remain present. Something more could come here.
A good rum, which for me somehow has a little peated note. Another Panama Rum with its own profile. A good mixture of seasoning, wood and fruit. No sweet rum. Overall, a little too well-bevaved.
Der Panama Rum von Our Rum and Spirits wurde von der Don Jose Distillerie im Column Stil hergestellt. Er durfte 11 Jahre in Eichenfässern ruhen. Dann wurde er mit 52,7% Fass Stärke ohne Zusatzstoffe und ohne Filtration abgefüllt. Es gibt 247 Flaschen von diesem Single Cask Rum.
Der helle Rum ist in der Nase würzig und frisch. Zitrusfrüchte sind klar erkennbar. Eiche und etwas Süße schwingen mit. Am Gaumen kommen deutlich Eichennoten durch. Ich schmecke etwas rauchiges, was mich an Whisky erinnert. Aber auch Fruchtnoten sind dabei und eine milde Süße. Der Alkohol ist gut eingebunden und im Abgang bleiben vor allem die Holznoten präsent. Hier könnte etwas mehr kommen.
Ein guter Rum, welcher für mich irgendwie eine peated Note hat. Wieder ein Panama Rum mit eigenem Profil. Eine gute Mischung aus Würze, Holz und Frucht. Kein süßer Rum. Insgesamt etwas zu brav.
