Centenario 1985 Released 2020

Like most of the reviewers said it is Centenario, but with whiskey barrel notes; for me its ok, but needs ice to mellow it down.

Many thanks to Joola69 for giving me a bottle as part of a rare rum exchange. I've never seen this in the US; I believe it was purchased in Finland.

The Centenario 1985 sounds fancy, but it's one of their less expensive bottles, priced between their 12 year and 20 year olds. I found the 12 year to be just slightly better, though this is above the 7 and 9 year to me.

This isn't as sweet as the other Centenario rums, and I admit I have a bit of a sweet tooth. Smells and tastes of molasses, brown sugar, with a good bit of whiskey barrel flavor (not my favorite), and a hint of vanilla. 43%abv makes this stronger than the all the other Centenarios I've tried. Pretty good, but not one of my favorite Centenarios.

On the nose: strong molasses and brown sugar, vanilla and some dried fruits.
Palate: spice, cherry and vanilla, followed by honey and perhaps orange peel.
Finnsh: long with strong burn. You can still taste it several minutes after drinking. Notes of caramel and cherries.

Very good balanced rum. Not so sweet like 20y. One of best for me.

I found this in the duty free store in Juan Santa Maria Airport in Costa Rica. Picked up a bottle just because it was inexpensive and I hadn't tried it. It is fantastic.
As good as the Centenario 20 year for half the price. Rich caramel color with a great nose of molasses and a little vanilla. Smooth as can be with notes of coffee in the finish. It is a limited anniversary production, so if you can find it, don't buy it...tell me, so I can buy it.

Centenario produces a tasty rums in general. This one is great example. The nose is weaker but my taste buds are telling me -excelent. On the sweeter side,with vanilla and whisky wood touch,all in perfect harmony.
Going to buy another bottle to keep in my collection.

Fantasticky rum, za skvele peniaze. Rumy zrejuce po whisky chutia ovela viac ako whisky zrejuce po rume :)

43% mu jednoducho pristane, a myslim si ze o kratky cas bude tazko dostupny

I bought it in the first place cause of the beautiful bottle design. Not sweet with a nice barrel note. Very whisky like. Wide range of aroma but subtle.
