The molasses is strong in this one, and enjoyable.  Either straight or mixed.  This might be one of my favorite Hamiltons.

Tasted on 12/31/23 from a bottle that Admiral Bill brought to the Annual Forbidden Hole New Years Eve Party. Pours a dark amber- perhaps sepia color. Wonderfully rich toffee caramel aroma. What I really am astounded by is the dominant flavor of bananas in this rum. As good as the other Hamiltons which are all good.

This Hamilton blend makes a great Mai Tai. It's only sold in Florida and is a collaboration with the Florida Rum Socity. Pick a bottle up if you find one, you won't be disappointed.

Definitely get the caramel notes from the Demerara but also a bit of funk from the Jamaican rum. Smooth and worthy of the FRS choice!

What an awesome, affordable blend. Rivals rums double the price of similar quality. Taste develops and changes well. Also, Ed Hamilton is a bad*ss so just buy it.

7.00/10, I purchased a bottle and need to revisit. My first impressions after opening was that it's a solid offering at a great price point but nothing overly special.

Hamilton is a go-to for quality rum for a bargain price. This expression is no different. Gorgeous amber color. Notes of caramel, a touch of coffee, and a bit of ripe bananas to finish. Guyanese rum definitely takes center stage with the sweetness, but the Jamaican component follows it with a bit of funk and some deeper complexities to make this very interesting. A surprisingly affordable rum that brings a lot of character

Similar to Paul B, I expected something like Pusser's Gunpowder (before they dropped the Jamaican component), Black Tot, etc. It was more restrained than I expected, probably because of the lower proof. I didn't get the burn he did, but otherwise I largely agree with his impressions. Even if no sugar was added, it was pretty sweet, but with enough depth to keep me coming back for another sip. At this price, you absolutely must give it a try if you have the chance, if you have any fondness for British style rum.

I found this absolutely wonderful rum for only $30 US on my recent trip to the Emerald Coast of Florida over the last few days. At first, I was reluctant to buy a bottle. Then I read the back label that stated 65% from Guyana and 35% from Jamaica while being bottled at 90 proof. Knowing what I have learned about rums over these past three years, I figured that I could do no wrong in buying it. I also picked up a bottle of Hamilton Navy Strength Rum at 114 Proof and a few bottles of Pusser's Gunpowder Proof at 109 Proof. Comparisons awaited when I got back home.

Anytime that I take a risk on a new rum, it winds up being rated at 7 or less. I had no idea that this $30 rum would climb up into my overall rankings with each sip until reaching my middle 8. So what is my guess as to how they accomplished this? Inspired by Pusser's Gunpowder Proof, Hamilton Navy Strength, and various Black Tot's, it appears that their focus was to modify the percentages from each origin while lowering the ABV to a very drinkable 45%. They also wisely left out any rum from Barbados, which would only tame this rich flavor.

Looks like I was wrong on these crazy assumptions. This blend is strictly from Hamilton rums, which I do not have the three on hand that probably make up this one. Just do the math!

Oh by the way, what does it taste like? If you can imagine a lower proof version of Plantation OFTD crossed with El Dorado 8, then you are getting close, but still no cigar. I am terrible with tasting notes and don't respect most of those, since the liquids and the barrels often never came anywhere near to those so called "professional tasting notes". No age statement is provided on the bottle and there is probably no added sugar.

Judging from the other rums that they endorse on their website, this Florida Rum Society has some damn good taste buds. Since I have been a frequent visitor to Florida for the past 35 years and I actually live in what used to be part of the Republic of West Florida, I probably should join them.

Anytime I stumble upon a really good rum like this one that is hard to replace, I always try to replicate it from my own collection. No matter what I tried, it could not beat the taste of this one. This is strong hogo funk in perfect balance with demerara rum, with neither side obliterating the other. This one is 35% Worthy Park from Jamaica and 65% Guyanese demerara. I should go back to Florida real soon and buy up all that I can find because this is an exclusive edition. This rum is worth every effort to get a hold of!

This rum is also not for wimps. I added water to some Plantation OFTD to bring it down to 90 proof like this one. Then came the side by side comparison. This one certainly has more flavor, but also a lot of burn. There was no burn at all from the OFTD.

Update September 24, 2022: I still have several bottles left that I got back in February for $27 each. Without question, this is the best rum that one can buy for less than $30 US. The Plantation OFTD is also hot on it's heals in second place, but that one is more readily available than having to drive 200 miles or more.
