A little too alcoholic ! 7 out of 10
Got this 5cl sample in my first batch from the Rum Ratings Tasting Club.
It’s a Pure Single Rum distilled in 2008 at DDL in their Double Wooden Pot Still, Port Mourant.
After the aging this single cask rum is bottled at Cask Strength (58,3% ABV) by the Independent bottler Rum Exchange in 280 bottles.
The nose is quite sharp and I can recognize banana, pineapple and some pepper, but I think it’s hard to detect it because it’s so sharp (alcoholic).
In mouth and palate I think it’s spicy, alcoholic, woody and dry.
The finish is medium long and fades out rather quickly.
Overall I can say that I once again found out that I’m not very found of unblended Port Mourant rum, but I always like it when it’s a part of a blend.
For those of you that likes Port Mourant as a pure single rum is this one a really good value for money.
