Tried neat at first and was not impressed. Little harsh and not much depth or character at all. Put on the rocks and it improved. Light aroma of citrus and wood. harshness absolutely dissipated on the rocks and a bit more flavor seemed to come out. It is one of those rums that just seems to be caught in the middle of being so close to being really good but just as close to being mediocre. Overall though, on the rocks it is pretty good. Can't say I would buy again but can't say I wouldn't.
The nose is strong, with oak, grapefruit and other citrus fruits, pineaple, notes of cocoa, and a hint of tobacco, I really love it. The taste starts with mildly sweet citrus fruits, pineaple, honey, ends with white oak, the aftertaste is oak, with lasting spicy grapefruit and other citruses, with a slightly bitter twist at the end and a little pleasant afterburn. It usually takes me a while to get my taste buds to accustom to this bitter-sweet experience in the aftertaste, but it is a real pleasure. Overall the rum is nicely crafted, reasonably priced, with a lively mix of scent and taste components, giving me much more satisfaction than other - allegedly older - competitors. And please - do not try to compare this with Bacardi, this one is a completely different story.
Butter and vanilla. Excellent on a rock with good complexity (7). Disappointed as a mixer. (5)
Take this with a grain of salt, as I am very new to drinking rum neat. I'm not a huge fan of the taste of the barrel first and rum second, and this hit it home for me. I did find it hits all the marks of a Spanish style rum.
One dimensional on the nose. Some heat on the taste. Taste is ok on its own. I really like this one as a sour.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Strong burn in mouth and throat. Not very complex flavors with sweet cedar and honey coming to the front. Not to sweet like some others I've had tho.
