Pixan Solera Especial 6-Year rum is an aged, dark rum produced in Mexico with a blend of sugar cane molasses and honey. Distilled and aged using the Solera method, the rum exudes a warm amber hue and boasts flavors of vanilla, caramel, and a touch of smokiness on the palate. Vůně: Nahnilá jablka, starý zatuchlý dub, barbecue, koření "mexico" (oregano, rozmarýn...), lehce chemoprén.
Chuť: Nepříliš sladká, ani ostrá, skořice
Dochuť: Sladká, chudá, krátká.
Vůně je mnohem lepší než chuť.

Nose of red berries like Abuelo. Taste is dry and oak-like with a bit of smoke. Everything I don't like in my rum. Better that the other Pixan I have had, but nok more than a five from me. Nose is way better than the taste.

Toto je rum, ktorý človek vypije a o chvíľu naň zabudne. Nevýrazný, mierne sladkasty, naozaj nič čo by som si chcel zopakovat

You could probably pick this out for being a Mexican rum straight away , notes of candied tequila on the first nosing .

Start of the tasting you can taste the whiskey from the barrel and mixing process .

Even after this rum was left breathing for around 5 minutes it tastes more like bourben whisky then rum , like a sweetened whisky ...

Rum and Tequila tasting in Guadalajara continues onwards with Pixan 6y. Great looking bottle and label design. Bright golden color. Mild oak mixed with unaged alcohol. Harsh ending. Expensive mixer rum to me.

On the nose I can smell a bit of wood, tobacco, accompanied with apples and vanilla, pleasant, but quite light. On the palate it starts with sweet raisins, then comes mildly spicy body with tobacco, vanilla and a bit of toffee, the aftertaste is sugar, traces of wood, vanilla and spices. The added sugar is perceivable, but still in reasonable amount (around 20gpl is my guess). Not too bad, some parts of the smell and taste remind me of Panama rums, but for a price tag slightly higher than Doorly 8y I expect more fun. My review is based on 50ml sample. For half the price would not hesitate to give it score at least 7 and try the whole bottle.

Nose 2/5
Taste 4/5
raisins, stronger aroma, more alcoholic taste (banana, pineapple?)

Starting 24 samples of Days of rum, number 2 is vanilla, sweet classic rum, tasty, moderate alcohol with smooth finish.

Chestnut honey coloured amber in a glass.
Very special on the nose, as if you were tasting rum in a winery. You stand in the big wine cellar and admire the barrels, in the next room bottles are filled and sealed with wax. Very complex and interesting. Wood in various variations, fresh barrel, used wine barrel, charred barrel that still smoulders and smokes a little. Fruits in all colours, berries, herbs, caramel and earth.
On the palate even more special and not as inspiring as the fragrance. Fruitsmash with burnt, bitter caramel, red wine sauce and a pinch of salt.
In the finish, well leaves a funny coating on the tongue.... I would prefer a bitter medicine....
Sorry, I'm not really into Mex-Rum. For lovers of funny things and tequila friends.
