I understand why some people would enjoy this rum. However, i'm not a big fan of bourbon and that is taste that comes through. It's quite harsh and smoky which are not flavours i enjoy in a rum.
Not smooth enough for me. It reminds me more of whiskey, than rum.

I drank it in a whisky glass so not great. The smell is not great and it smell like a cheap mixing rum. Once you drink it it reacts like a bourbon. long taste but not complex at All. Just the taste of caramel lasting. The Finish is the part I don't like. Very plain. Only the caramel/ honey traste but no complexity
When at a US bar with a limited rum selection this is certainly worth trying. However if more aged rums are available it's only mediocre.
Good for mixing, I can make some fire mojitos with this, not meant for sipping. Iβve tasted neat and its just not hitting the mark for me, you can taste a lot of the ethanol flavor. Nice lookig bottle tho.
First time trying mount gay. Not finding very tastey
Agreed with the unfinished comment, think I prefer the standard Mount Gay for mixing drinks. I wouldn't sip this one, the woody flavors thinly mask the undeveloped alcohol taste.
Average sweetness and some harshness. Smokey taste, some ripe fruit/banana at the end, some liquorice.
A nice balanced Bajan nose with a little extra spicy kick to it.
"Sipped the Black Barrel certainly gives some of the oaky notes of a bourbon but also makes the mouth water."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Bold rum with rich notes of oak, vanilla, and spice. Smooth with a hint of smokiness.
dry and more reminiscent of whiskey.
