Mount Gay Black Barrel

Not a big fan of this one. Quite strong, bit too harsh to my taste.

This stuff was peculiar. Light and young on the initial taste, very akin to Mount Gay Eclipse. Then here comes the spice and dryness from the Bourbon barreling hiding the aggressive tannins and finally finishing with a tropical fruit sensation of mango. This one requires a second chance.

Found this at my local Getränkemarkt and was not too expensive for an alleged small batch rum. Found it rather medicinal, slightly rough, no real redeeming features, would not buy again.

Not quite good for me nothing special very woody and some spices.the alcohol is shown and seems that is quite young

Another one that improved with later tastings. A bit too strong for me on the rocks, but worked out better mixed. A pronounced molasses flavor for me that improved my outlook on it. Should be a 5.5, but the system only allows full bottles....

Very whiskey like. Not very sweet, strong oak. It’ll do if I had to, but nothing special.

I held off for months in buying a bottle of this rum because I cannot stand the taste of charred oak in my rums. Somehow, the charred oak adds something interesting to what would be another boring MG rum, while still leaving the charred taste deep into the background. With no sugar added as per Barbados law, it first seemed like a worthy addition to my collection. However, only one merchant stocks this one in my area and he has way too many bottles on hand, so $27 seemed like a good price.

After only a few hours, my first impressions have already worn off. There are better tasting and cheaper Bajan rums than this one. So what I now have is a rather expensive mixer that only works with cola. I had my doubts before I bought it, but I just had to take the risk. It's my own fault.

Chuť je příjemná ale ne moc výrazná. Přebije jí alkoholový dozvuk. Dá se.

Don’t bother sipping this. Strictly a mixer, but admittedly a good mixer.

Un de mes premier Mount Gay. Marque que J apprécie pour la qualité de ses produits mais le black barrel m a decu, moins de complexité que ce qu ils savent faire, trop linéaire et peu marqué à mon goût.
