Very floral, grassy aroma, hints of pineapple, papaya, very little sweetness.
Relatively easy to drink neat, floral and fruit notes carry through. A bit of a bitter finish, sits heavy on the back of the tounge

More astringent than the more aged Appletons. Short finish. Good for cocktails that call for Jamaican rum like a Mai Tai or the Jungle Bird.

If you want to make acquitnance of jamaican rums this one would be perfect for beginning. I would say more - this one is golden mean of price and quality. Of course 12 years old Appleton Estate is much better and much more well-balanced, this one is perfect choice to introduce jamaican rums to your friends.

Very good price/quality, a bit dry in palate, dry fruits, floral and hint of spices

Tasted at Laka Lono on 8/8/21. Standard gold in color. Aroma is classic jamaican funk. Caramel, vanilla, and resin from your weed bowl. Big sweetness and a very low alcohol burn. Aroma is way better than the flavor which finishes with a bit of anesthetic.

I have to say I was let down a bit after hearing so much hype around the Appleton Estate. It's fine and like others say good entry level fare but it's not something I'd buy again as it'stoo sharp and not smooth enough for my palate. Then again it's up to your personal preference.

This is the first Jamaican rum I've tried. I love it. It's very difficult to describe what Jamaican funk is in rum, but by God you'll know it when you taste it. Very, very enjoyable rum.

Nedávno jsem chutnal dvanáctiletou verzi, byla skvělá, toto je její mladší, slabší bráška.
Vůně lehounce funky, chuť ostřejší, náznak čokolády a dubu.
Do coly za tu cenu super.

This rum was my second attempt at trying a Jamaican pot stilled rum after find Smith & Cross to just be way too overbearing for me. I really thought after Smith & Cross that strong "leather" note meant I would not like any Jamacian rums that everyone generally fawns over.

Now, before trying Appleton Estate I did try Plantation OFTD which certainly has a very small amount of Jamaican in it as the note is present, but I also mostly use that as a mixer for Tiki drinks so it was never overbearing.

For this rum, I was quite pleasantly surprised that while the noted characteristics of Jamaican rum are there. The bananas, leather, brown sugar etc, the leather portion didn't kick me in the teeth like Smith & Cross. I was happy to note that some Jamaican rums may indeed grow on me over time.

Update: this has indeed grown on me over time, especially in a mai tai. I've updated the score from 6 initially to 7.
